Me and my brother are going to start installing his turbo kit on his 3g eclipse (Hes upset he can't compete with my GST :p ) its a ebay kit of course but it looks ok for what we are going to be using it for. im curious tho if anyone knows any tricks to lower the cars boost level under what the Waste gate is set to. it comes with a 7 lbs spring and i want to bring it down to about 4 or 5 psi just so we are well in the safe zone. i know we could get different springs but was curious if anyone knew any tricks to bring it down. i was thinking maybe shimming it or something.

Thanks

I never knew anyone who tried it, but you may be able to trim a coil or two off the spring....just don't cut too much off to where it doesn't allow the wastegate to actually close.

The lighter springs have less coils, but they are also a thinner gauge coil.

that was another thought that had crossed my mind , we might give it a shot with one of the higher springs. i have a couple 14b's and t25's kickin around might just modify one of the actuators to bring the boost done. i'd rather use his turbo not mine tho haha.

I could buy a new spring as mentioned above or cut the spring as mentioned above but be very carefull. I had a buddy that did that and it would not close. if you ever want to know how to make the wastegate stay closed longer besides a bigger spring or MBC you can use compressed air =p It works great.

never heard of anyone using compressed air to keep the waste gate closed but my uncle used a craftsman pressure regulator for an air compressor as a boost controller for his dsm in like 96
