its really sloppy, and metal bar highlighted in green slops down and messes up my shifting

Yeah, a lot actually.
To the point that if I shift from second to third, it often goes from second back to first instead.

I just dont see how to get rid of that playw.

x2 on the bushings, and while your looking check the shifter cables take them off the tranny and see if there loose. Loose cables will cause miss shifts and hard engagement.

On the tranny, you have the two cables: one is the SELECT and the other is the SHIFT and there are bushings on the end of the cables that goes over the respective pins, and these wear out.

You grab the end of the cables and move the cable connections back and forth by hand to check for slop on where the ends are over the connection pins.

A lot of DSM owners take those worn bushings out and put in skateboard bearings to really maximize their shifting techniques.

I was to lazy to type more thanks for adding:thumb:. Only thing that`s kind of a annoying is the bearing types have to be pressed in. Making it kind of difficult if your doing it yourself.

I used a regular C-clamp to press in the skateboard bearings on the transmission side; broke one in the process but they eventually went in.

On the shifter arm side (the one in green), it is tedious to get to those bushings. For convenience sake, you need to remove everything in the way of that retaining ring under the large nut pictured: the shifter cables, the shifter arm, the side-to-side shifter pivot and that spring assembly. Once you get down to it, there are two bushings that will need to be replaced which tighten/stiffen the arm. Under the retaining ring, there is a plain washer, one bushing, the arm, and then the other bushing. The bushings part number is MB580253.
