I currently own a 1997 Eclipse Rs...I could not afford the turbo version at the time and my car is paid of. Is there any motors that can be swapped into my ride?
I hate the 420a and im currently looking to leave this camp and join the Nissan camp if my ride can't go any where.
Thanks for the help...DSM's!

2.4's are definitely not found in the avenger. Avengers are eclipses only never offered with a 4g63, and optioned with a v-6 instead. the 2.4 was offered in the strat tho. really not much power from one of those over your the 420a. 150 hp in the 2.0 vs. 160 in the 2.4. If you're gonna stay NA, get some headwork done, I believe the valvetrain out of a PT cruiser is a good upgrade with stiffer valve springs and such. Bottom end, bore it a little and I think the 2.4 crank can be used to increase displacement. If you're goin the turbo route, forged bottom end, ARP studs everwhere, fuel system, and then boost it.

Good post mntalon_05. Just one correction, 2.0 420a's make 140hp, 130tq..... :boring:

Anyways, my advice would be to just sell your car and buy a turbo eclipse with the 4g63. Yes, I know that everybody says that, but there's a reason that they do. I own a Dodge Avenger with the 420a too and it's definately a dog. The 4g63 overall is just better, better torque through the rpm band and def. more horsepower.

I wouldn't blame you for going nissan, it's a good brand. But personally, I'm addicted to turbos. I've never owned one until this eclipse and it's incredible! There's nothing better than feeling the turbo push you back in your seat when it spools. Crazzzy :thumb: :thumb:
Plus, there's crazy potential for our cars. If you turbo your 420a eclipse, or a n/a nissan for that matter, you won't be able to push very high psi at all. But the 4g63 is built for turbos from the factory so it's ready to be modded!

sorry about the long post but I was in the same situation as you and I thought I'd share my opinion.

Good luck :thumb:
