Any really fixes for spyder top motors with broken pins?

Like the title says, any of you spyder owners find a replacement or a fix for the shear pins in our top-operating motors? One of the tech articles says use hanger wire and then someone else said otherwise.

I know I talked to John at Stans Auto Upholstery in Eugene, and he had a fix for it, 541-342-5866...Mine old one did the same thing of course can't remember exactly his fix...

He'll tell you what he does I'm sure, but yes he's done the fix before...
