Well i just finished installing my 16g tonight and I took my car out for a spin. Everything was going good. I went WOT and I made it all the way through 1st and most of 2nd when I hit fuel cut. Afterwards, my engine started making a whistling sound, but went away when i took the oil cap off. What could that mean. Also, on my way back home, a coupling holding the j-pipe to my intercooler popped off. I drove only about 2 miles going only 20mph after that happened. As soon as I got home i checked it out and saw that the coupling had torn. Could that have hurt anything seriously? Thanks in advance.

no it wont hurt anything but your ego limping home, sucks when that happens

LOL no kidding, a 1g drove past and revved his engine LOL. I was just kinda worried because my car was acting crazy while the turbo wasn't connected to the intercooler.

As far as my fuel cut though, I ordered a mbc and a 190 fuel pump to come in this friday, and im hopping to get my 550cc injectors and safc next week.

Always carry TOOLS and spare parts #1 Rule in a DSM

Oh man, this is so true. ive owned my Eclipse for about 3 months, and now i carry a full set of tools, extra oil and coolant, various screws and bolts, spare hoses, rtv, a dent puller, jumper cables, and zip-ties all in the back. just in case.

Extreme blow by- Might of lifted the head from the block. He said after removing the oil cap the whistle went away. I think its BLow By.
When you removed the cap, was there excessive pressure from inside the valve cover? Check your IC piping if you have oil in it.

Wow, I don't think that could be more wrong...But maybe that's just my opinion.

i couldnt put it better my self...i bought a 20 dollare tool kit at walmart just for emergencies not top cuality but it will get you out of a tight spot. as for the turbo, im still new at this but that is not the same turbo our cars come with there for any turbo that didnt come with the car would more than likely have to be tunned, am i right so far?...in that case if u only drove it the distance u said u should be fine just get you tunning done.

Well there is no oil in the ic piping, and there is no air rushing out of the oil cap when it comes off. It just makes a whistling sound as soon as I put the cap back on. I don't even have to tighten it and it starts to whistle. Ill try and take a video if I can.

If it is all dependent on whether the oil cap is on or not, I would check vacuum hose for the pcv valve, valve cover vent, and pcv valve itself. Whatever the whistling is, it is more than likely a product of the pcv(positive crankcase ventilation) system. When you remove the oil cap with the engine running, all you are doing technically is creating a vacuum leak. This leak is eliminating the whistle so in turn, this would point to the only vacuum source into the crankcase which would be the pcv.

The whistle could also be from the air passing through the biss circuit or over the throttle blade. When the oil cap is removed, the vacuum leak it creates would cause less air to pass through the tb or biss circuit making the whistle go away.

+1 to that, my trunk looks like a mobile garage....LOL

Have our cars always been such a pain in the @$%?:p

As for your problem, I have to agree that it is likely a product of the PCV system. Check your filter and make sure its functioning correctly.
