How about sometime between May 10-20, whenever that weekened between those days is?

Dang, I missed a meet! Hey guys, name is Kevin. I think the May meet would be awsome, I should have my DSM together by then. I know one thing, it's REAL nice today.....sure wish my babe was up....anywho enjoy da day and let's get this meet together!

It was soooooooo nice today, went for a nice long drive with the windows down, I love the warm weather, and so does my car.

You guys better come out when the North meets South meet starts up again. 6/7 cars are nice but our largest turnout was around 60+ DSMs with a police escort two years back....I must say that was awesome:thumb:

haha,

yeah, meet 1 and 2... that was back in the day when i had my laser fwd...my 1st dsm;)

this was intended to be more of a local thing....

Ya, today was super nice...Took my smic cover off (wheel well) so the smic could enjoy the nice fresh air...That combined with a K&N filter I picked up = a louder spool and a harder pull....

All fun until I realized besides an annoying coolant leak fix I have to gather the courage to do later on, I might be needing a new left rear wheel hub...Remember that noise Rob, you thought might be brake pads? Ive been informed it could be the wheel bearing, so when the car is on the lift tomorrow at the tire shop, I might find out the hard way that to go with the $400 Im spending this month on my today-delivered fuel/tuning setup, I now gotta spend $100+ (?) on a wheel bearing...

BTW, anybody willing to lend a hand when I decide to do this one? I definitely don't have the right tools, knowledge or garage for this, and AMS charges $$$$, so I am definitely open to paying a friendly dsm'r some cash to help me with this one at their place...Im not that cheap, I can pay you well, and I know some of the people from the meet are downright awesome at this stuff....Gimme a call sometime, also help me find a good deal on a spare one, I could check the classifieds here, but if the bearing is in like the West coast, I could end up spending like an extra $100 just to ship it...Jeez

Yup, told you it was either the pad or the wheel bearing, you have to take the knuckle off and press out the old bearing and press in the new one, I unfortunately dont have a press or I would do them for you, oh wait, you have to take the knuckle off to do the fronts, Ive never done the rears, but it should be the same concept, and dont go to AMS, they charge out the asshole, they are a real good shop, but if your not made of money, dont go there. Oh, and by the way, I painted 2 of my rims, hehe, ran out of time, the last one dries at 10:45, I have two black drivers side rims, the passengers side is stock, still have to clean the lips off real good and then polish them.

yeah, the wheel bearing needs to be pressed out. I have an extra garage if needed:thumb:

But other than that, it should be cake. I would soak whatever bolts in PB blaster the night before.

You could always just pick up a new spindle at the yard on washington..close to gurnee mills.

Rob, how was the sanding and polishing. They clean up ok?

very colorful choice of words.

Our technicians are top notch and some of the best in the country. We don't over charge or "charge out the asshole" I think you might be confusing us with a dealer.

Eric

Im only cleaning up one a little tonight, the lip has some corrosion on it, itll take about total an hour of sanding to get the lip nice and clean and smooth, the other one Ill start on friday or saturday, whenever Im done sanding the first one, the paint came out pretty good, a HELL of alot better than the shitty corroding paint I had on there, hehe. Ill post pics.

No disrespect, I agree with you, but you also have to agree with me, the best doesnt come cheap, and thats what I was meaning. Hes a teenager, as am I, being that we dont have well paying jobs, enought to afford to bring our cars to the best of the best, which is what I meant. Now if $$$ wasnt really a concern, my first answer would have been to bring it to AMS for it, as well as the tuning he will soon be needing.

I forgot how to upload pics.:D

AHH, found it, here they are.

Before, After (lip not sanded), and after (lip sanded a little)

Beautiful!! Told ya it was totally worth it!! I too have to clean up my lip a little bit, what kinda of sand paper did you use for that? I think I only have 400grit around or close to that

BTW: UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

Turns out it's not the Wheel Bearing....ROB, +1 brownie points for you, it was the Brakes....Metal to Metal contact baby, the rotors are warped and the pads have no material left on them!

So, I plan on just heading over to autozone and picking up some generic brand rear rotors and pads, since Im not needing anything special for the back brake setup...

Shouldn't be too hard, but Rob, didn't you say you did this a little while ago on your friends car? Wanna help me out a little? I think I need a special tool for the calipers, and other than that I shouldn't have to bleed the brake line either, but I haven't really done this process before, so I would be down for driving up to somebody's garage and getting some extra help...If I start it here and screw up, then the car isn't moving, but at least I know it can get finished somewhere else.....I think?ROFL

Lemme know
-Josh

PS: No offense AMS...You are the best, and trust me you have an excellent rep...If I could afford to pay you for all of my little problems and installs then I sure as hell would, but that money I save from install can go to more parts instead...Fo

Lets do the brakes whenever you want, and yes you do need a special tool, our cars have locking piston calipers, you have to rotate the piston and compress it, you can probably rent a tool from autozone or pepboys, its free from pepboys, lmk when you want to do them, and Jason, when exactly are you starting it?? Need a hand lmk, and I want to go to the junkyard asap, I have some $$$ to blow. Oh and Josh, I used 150 grit on the lip to sand it, it works soooooo much faster than sitting there with the 400, I have 400 too, but Im gonna use that to smooth it out once all the rough edges are gone.

Just finished paintin' my calipers red on the Laser.....found out I have a ripped CV boot:notgood: ....car gets repaired Friday. Friday I get my tires from tirerack and either Friday night or Saturday afternoon, my new rims get mounted!!! They've been sittin in my room for about a year, I can't wait.

I get off of work at 3, have a dentist appointment a 4, so hows around 5 sound for meeting up and heading to the junkyard sound? What time do they close?
