I started with a picture of the car, traced it in Illustrator and added highlights where I thought they should be.

So, yeah, except for the picture part. Once you get the shape close, you can get rid of the pic.

This was a quick drawing of me and my DSM I made for an art class... The title was for a comic book I was making :D

Nice work again Hideki, Great shading on this image. It looks like you might have used Illustrator CS2 on this one, it looks vector to me.

Great Image ckeins, your choice of shading really makes the image pop out.

(Tell me what programs you are using, I'm always interested in different effects)

It looks great! (except for the boxes around the red car, pink car, and light blue car in the bottom right)

I know someone already asked, but how is this done? Do you convert a photo into a cartoon like image? I believe I could do it from the Photoshop portion, but I'm curious as to what you do in Illustrator.

The boxes are probably my Contrast adjustments, if you view at higher res and colors you probably won't see that.

Not exactly, I trace the image in Illustrator and then discard it. Then I make many layers to color and change the hue, satuaration, Brightness and contrast. It takes a few hours but turns out well.

I'll teach a class someday soon
