I would use the stock Mitsubishi stub shaft as it has a oil groove machined into it.

I have just finished helping a mate pull his oil pump housing out of his car after he installed the same stub shaft that is in your kit.

It looks very much like the shaft was not being lubricated and it seized nicely in the housing. Mind you, it did manage to mangle the inside of the oil pump first though.

As for porting your filter housing, you will find that after you remove the BS the oil pressure will go up. If it was me, I'd port it.
Porting will not harm the idle or cruising pressure at all.
After all, the pressure relief valve only opens under high oil pressure situations, it has nothing at all to do with engine capacity at all.

Well I put the BSE kit in without porting the oil relief so far. The oil pressure seems normal when idle'ing, but i bit high in the rpms it seems to be high. I haven't taken it past 4500 rpm yet, but around there I can watch my gauge bounce back and forth at the 85ish psi mark, I am guessing that is the relief opening and closing. I will see when I bring the rpm's higher what happens.
I have a spare oil filter housing I can port if I have to anyway.

i also put a bse kit in mine the exact one in the link and it froxe up in the housing also and eat the oil pump up. it did recommend clearancing the housing but it spun freely so i thought it would be ok !

how many miles ? it maybe had 30 minutes of run time did even get to drive it ...... i think as soon as the aluminum heated up it tried to seize ! i started to get a noise that sounded like a belt noise coming and going, it sounded like it was coming from the head but everything else looks fine, now i need a oil pump for a 7 bolt !

good to know i got oem bs parts. I havent ported my filter housing yet, going to leave it alone and if i get hi oil pressure, ill port it then. thanks for the info.
