Ok first off I'm looking to put down around 600whp with my 1G. I know it's not the easist thing to do but also not the hardest and their is no definitive yes this will give you your power goal stuff as tuning plays a hugh role in all of this. Here is what I'm going to be getting to try and achieve this goal and let me know or flame me to hell and back for being a noob, but here goes:

Engine:
4G64 100mm Crank (Knife edged and Balanced)
Eagle Rods
Weisco 8.0-8.3:1 Pistons
CNC Machined long Balance shaft eliminator
770cc injectors
Tublar equal length ext. headers
1mm Oversized Valves w/Ti retainers and duel valve springs
HKS 272/272 Cams
3G Lifters
int./ext. ports port matched to header/intake
Block drilled for better oil drain back
RNR 3in. SS Turbo Back exhaust
Tail 40mm External Waistgate
Sparco 23x12x3.5 in. FMIC w/ 2.5 in. Custom Fabed IC piping and 2.75 in. Mandrel Bends
Walbro 255 LPH FP
Aeromotive FPR
3 in. GM MAF
MAFT v. 2.0+
FP 3065
Might go with a Mustang 70mm Throttle Body but going to run the 1G TB first

Tranny:
Sheppard Built tranny with the improved bearings
Might get the 4 gear spyder diff
Maybe the GVR4 taller 1st gear

Body:
Front and Rear Fabed Strut Tower Braces
Reinforced underbody subframe connectors

EMS:
Going to use the 1G EPROM ecu and lower timing a tad on the high end to run higher boost
-5K Studder Box
-Totally just get rid of the Fuel Cut code all together
-Richen the entire fuel Map to run 12:1 AFR
Already got a programmer and been modding the code for a little bit now.

My goal is to make over 600whp with the stock ECU and no piggy backs cept the MAFT which is a necessity but it's not going to be used as a AFC as that will drop you into timing maps with to much timing adv. I'm totally unsure about the tranny. I pretty much already know that I have to get the 4 gear spyder or I'll be just wasting money, but for the price should I just go with a Quafie diff for twice the price as the 4 gear upgrade? This car is also going to be a daily driver. Also the final static compression ratio I'm kind of unsure of atm. I'm thinking between 8.0 and 8.3:1. Thank you for any cirtisium.

3. Running 10's - not cheap, and not easy
An unachievable goal for 95% of the DSM community. I love seeing people come in here and think they're going to run 10's and 11's. Sure, it's possible, but it is only done by those who have a lot of money to spend. If you have your car parked in the driveway and have $10k in your wallet and know what you're doing, you may have a chance. The truth is, it will require just as much technical knowledge of your car as it does money. Spending the money is the easy part. ITS NOT THE PARTS that make your car run 10's. It's the testing, tuning adjustments, repairs, new trannies, and driving practice that will get you there. DSMs are very capable of running fast times, but like any other car, they require money and know-how to go fast

 Hmmmm A.....600HP....DAILEY DRIVIN 92 Talon. You usually don't hear of such a thing but It seems your "Shopping list" of Go fast hard parts is in order. While it is possible to do the number you put down, you are going to experience some hitches along the way, weather or not everything is new.

You got any pics of this setup, or are you dreaming?

Besides I'm not the one to critisize, it's the guys who are laying down 600HP already that are going to have something to say...

At least your doing a 1g! :D

Props...but lets see some pics!

Currenlty it's basicly bone stock. I have a Feb 92 TSi so I have the 4 bolt rear and 6 bolt motor. I know it's not the parts that only make a car go fast. I've been building V-8's for some time. Not that I've ever messed with Turbo's but I have had a Roots Blown muscle car that was a pain in the arse to tune. Once it was dialed in though it ran like a raped date from prom. Never did get that thing on a dyno. But it held it's own with many low 12s and high 11s cars. Anyways back on subject. That isn't a list of just go fast parts. I'm going to try and fab everything that I can as I have the know how and access to much CNC maching equipment and a fully decked out metals workshop.

What I'm mainly asking is with these parts that basicly I can't really just make like the engine internals and turbo setup am I day dreaming of a 600whp car. Biggest pain I see is the fact that I have to reburn a chip to do any turning but that is what I'm going for. End product is still going to have stock trim with the stock 16in. swirly wheels with a pretty fadded black paint job. I'm going to try and go sleeper for end product and maybe even put the stock muffler on the back and put a electronic dump right at the bend on the Downpipe. I'm going for the "OMFG you have a stock this and no AFC and you dumb shit... Ya I'll race you for $500 bucks" kind of people. Their are plenty out their. I'm sure if my wife wasn't so tight that I would have been suckered in a few times with my Skylark with a few of the DSM's running around town here.

As for the daily driver part. Well that is just a requirement. I love challenges and learning new things. I was going to make my current car into a 8-71 blown 850hp daily driver (summer only this far north). But now I've found a better sleeper car to build. I'm rambling.. I'm not to sure who here has 600+whp cars but I'd be glad to talk with you on MSN or AIM. I would like to know a few of the bottlenicks and crossroads that had to be delt with. I have a good idea but I'm still pretty new to DSM's and turbo chargers all together.

hey maglin, i would love to see you accomplish your goal. never herd anybody sticking with stock ecu with that much power. if you do more power to ya. its probably going to be kind of hard but if it were not it wouldnt be any fun nore worth doing. keep me posted. :thumb: :dsm:

i have a friend of mine here on tuners and lives about 2 miles a way from me that has a 91 red 1g that was running 11's on his t3/t4 and pump gas... he has a new set up and turbo (went bigger) forgot which.. anyway his old setup was some where near 500 whp or just over. with his new setup hes looking to make over 550whp and run 10's on pump gas.
just 2months he went down to RCR out side of San Antonio Tx and blew either his tranny or rear end ... i think it was his tranny .... which you will be experiencing often making that much power. and within the last 3 weeks he blew his 2.4L..... So yes 11's, 10's are attainable in a daily driver.. but i hope you have a deep walet, and if your not familiar with reparing dsm motors and trannys your going to get many opportunities to learn...

good luck and work the OT when you can... I have a feeling your going to need both.

Hehe.. Thanks. I would imagin that if you can kept out of the throttle all the time when your just driving around and only "Show off" or open it up drag racing that it can be semi reliable. I do plan on Learning how to tear apart trannys. But I've heard many many good things about Sheppards trannys so maybe I won't have to. And I will be totally tickeled pink if I can kept the ECU only plan I have for my goal. I hope to have this totally built by middle of next summer. I should have a lot done by end of this summer and then build the bottom end this winter while the snow is everywhere. I just have to find a 1/4 track around here as all seem to be 1.8 mile tracks. :)

I didn't see a FMIC and piping on your list, but maybe I just skimmed past it by mistake. But this will be interesting to hear how a setup like that would fair as a daily driver.I heard the 272 combo alone doesn't make for a great daily driver.

Oh and you might want to get some big ass brakes with that setup. :thumb:

I suppose I will be the first to say that it will be very difficult to get 600hp w/o a standalone. I just see to many people with huge plans to belt out huge numbers with a MAFT or S-AFC that don't come anywhere near it because they refuse to acknowledge the limits of the stock ECU. If you want to try it, be my guest. You must know that you will never get it to run as well (especially with 800cc+ injectors). IMO it is worth it to get a standalone and a professional tune at the power level you want. I'm not sure if it's that the people who make 600 hp have the money and knowledge to go standalone, or if its just so hard to do it on the stock ecu.

well i dumped 11k into the motor/turbo setup. Once it gets installed and tuned.. i'll let you know if I hit 10's or 11's.. Remember..its also how good of a driver you are too!

Me personally.. i'm sticking with a 12.0 for now.. until i save up to be able to afford new axles..or tranny.. once i feel more confident and have some $ back in my wallet.. i'm shooting for a 11.0 and then quicker.. don't go 11's all at once... you'll regret it!

shit.. i have a built motor and i'm running it with the stock turbo for the first 1000 miles as break in..then i'm installing my friends evo iii 16g to start putting power..once i get bored of it (maybe 2-3 weeks later), i'm doing the FP3052 or FP3065 turbo upgrade which should get me there no problem.. take it step by step though.. you'll learn more that way and things may not break all at once.. just one at a time..haha
