air/fuel gauge

so my auto meter air/fuel ratio gauge acts really funny. it will give me a reading of lean, rich whatever and then will go back to nothing and will do that over and over, it wont give me a steady reading, is this hooked up wrong?

i think its just a poor qualty gauge...i have just always used AEM wideband ugeo gauges..they work flawllessly

Is this a narrowband o2 gauge? If so, then that is how they are. A narrowband o2 sensor only reads a very small range ~14:1 to 15:1. The ecu constantly bounces between under and over 14.7:1 which will result in a narrowband o2 gauge to just jump around. They are really good for nothing other than having pretty lights in a car.

I'm guessing that's a narrowband "lightshow". Get yourself a wideband. Don't even try tuning with that gauge. You don't tune to stoich anyways.

this should be a easy thread that wont help get a wideband for the price of a new af, about $ 60 new the he aem wideband is around 218 shipped from most of the vendors here.
