Ok, well I read the posts and cant find any help, I am wanting to put a monitor inside of the air bag compartment but dont want the srs light to be on. can anyone tell me how to trick the eprom into thinking the air bag is still there or if when I totally disconnect the passener side airbag will the light not come on?

The SRS light will come on if the system does not detect an airbag.

Do you only want the driver side airbag and not the passenger side? If yes, take passenger airbag off, take SRS bulb out. If the N/T are like Turbo 2Gs, then the airbag system has its own computer module that sits under the center console. It has nothing to do with the ECU. And no, you don't have an e-prom ECU.

Yea, I know about the air bag computer under the console, so there is no way to trick the computer into thinking there is an air bag with a resistor, or something

just to clarify this will get rid of the light but none of the airbags will be functional. anytime the SRS light is on the entire system is disabled

Interesting. I thought that one airbag would work even with the SRS light on if the system did not detect the other airbag. If one airbag is disconnected, the entire airbag system dies - what a stupid design!

Yeah, you don't want to pass-up getting blammed in the face and blinded while you're trying to recover from a first impact.

Screw airbags. :beatentodeath:

I though that was the case too. I had my driver side airbag out to re-clock the steering wheel after I rebuild my steering rack. After I put it back in and everything the SRS light is still on because the system recognized it was temporarily disconnected.
After doing a lot of searching I came to the conclusion the the system was still functional and the light just needed reset by Mitsubishi. Are we wrong here???
