I have an alpine headunit with infinity speakers. i took out the stock amp..when i turn it up over 25 it shuts off...it used to do it when the amp was there it shut off at 16...what can i do?

I had the same problem with my Pioneer head unit with Sony Speakers. I had the installation done at Best Buy and they fixed it for free. It was a cheap part I believe is left from stock that prevents blowing the stock speakers.

Sorry but that's all I know. Hope that helps.

Same thing happen to my pioneer, when I had my old Nissan Altima. I never figured out the problem, because I just swapped out the speakers and pioneer for another radio and new speakers. If someone who actually fixed this problem, can post why this happen; because I would like to know what was causing this problem.

Typically this has to do with a configuration common on many infinity systems, some even had the amp built into the speakers (weird eh?). What happens is that your sending an amped signal from the head unit to the amp.

Now that you took out your stock amp you shouldnt be having the problem.
Are you saying the aftermarket head unit is power shutting off? or is the sound just cutting off at high volume... There may be an electrical issue with enough power. Did you use a metra/smart harness combo to install or did you wire it up yourself.

Also if they are aftermarket speakers make sure the polarity is right....

Let me know an answer to a few of those questions and I can help you out further..

the headunit turns completly off. if i wait like ten seconds it turns back on but with the volume at zero. I have a wire harness that i got from tweeter.

I just wired in a deck and I had the same problem, my problem was it wasnt grounded enough, might wanna check that.

See this is why I tell people to get the smart/metra harness combo. No wiring involved, its literally plug and play. Go to any install bay and ask the guys there to buy a smart and metra harness for your particular car (Eclipse) and then particular radio (sony or pioneer, etc.) Then simply plug it into your stock harness and plug it into your head unit. No wiring involved.

Literally 99% of questions I get is because someone was too lazy to get those harnesses, wired it up themselves and messed up. DO NOT WIRE UNLESS YOUR KNOW EXACTLY WHICH WIRE IS WHICH! YOU CAN BLOW RELAYS, not just fuses. And relays are a complete pain in the ass, trust me I know.

One time I was hardwiring in a head unit and one of my open wires touched power and I destroyed this poor guy's relays for his dash. So I had to take care of that. What a major pain in the ass.

PS- If you are hardwiring in, please solder, not butt connectors or anything else, solder ONLY!!! Then tape it up well. Connectors typically fall out if your not very good with using them and they sometimes fall out anyway. Soldering is a lifetime connection, plus its metal so it will even conduct better.
