I've heard a lot about 1g maf's not being able to handle high amounts of flow...
apparently 'full throttle tech' has a 3.5" gm sensor with a 'translator'....

I can't seem to find any good information about switching to the gm sensor on either site...does anyone have a guide on how to do this conversion?? pros/cons? I've seen hints that the gm can be placed after the bov to allow atm venting?(not that it would increase performance, but it sounds nice :p

Is the translator required to convert the signal into something our ecus understand, or is it purely for tuning?

Does anyone have solid numbers showing (approximate)maximum flow rates of each?

If someone would point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it :)

thanks :)

It doesn't increase performance, but it is added safety. If you blow off a pre-MAF intercooler pipe, the car won't stall with a blow-thru setup. This allows your car to stay running and keep supplying oil to the turbo. With the stock MAF setup, if you blow off a pipe, your car will run extremely rich and very likely stall, starving the turbo of oil right when it's fully spooled.

It's required - the ECU cannot read a hotwire-type sensor because it is set up for a karmen vortex signal.

Thanks for the great info! I just found a post describing setup, etc. so i should be set...

Is this better than changing to a 2g maf? does still looking for comparasion of the gm3.5 vs. 1g vs 2g maf maximum flow capabilities.
