I've had 2 sets of aftermarket headlight bulbs, the superwhite ones that everyone and their import loving mom has, and they burn out after months of using them. One goes out. Then a few days later the other one goes out. Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions, other than keeping the stock bulbs? :barf:

I had purchased 2 no name brand Super Bright bulbs, they lasted a couple of days. I took them back and the guy there said he have the super blue bright bulbs called Xenon. He took the blown one and give me the Xenons. This was almost 2 years ago and they are on there still.

These are cool too but a bit expensive:

Do not exceed the wattage rating of the stock headlight bulbs!!! The heat dissipated will burn the connector and wiring.

Yea, alot of those bulbs are cheaply made and covered with a paint/film that doesn't dissipate heat very well. Short of going with a full HID conversion, the best bulbs I've found are the Sylvania Silverstars. They are about 30-40 bucks for a set and can be found at most stores. They have a bluish tint and are the brightest I've seen besides HID.

Yeah those mach v ones are a little expensive, if I go that expensive for just bulbs Im going to save a for a HID conversion. I'll check out those Silverstars, thanks for the help guys.

I got some Silverstarts for free for my moms car and they just look like Super-white. Nothing beats authentic HIDs though.

2 years later and a reply, haha. My cousin god a HID conversion for his wrx wagon for 300. They look efing incredible. Im definitely going to convert. Halo headlights first. Halo HIDs will look incredible.

Try SilverStars, first. And replace the factory plugs that go onto the bulb. They're shit. The contacts get tired and arc. Replacement sockets are available at any auto parts shop. Use aftermarket, not factory.

Can you get any sockets that support higher wattage? Because doesn't higher wattage bulbs emit a brighter light?

just make sure you dont handle the bulb part with your fingers as that can lead to premature failure...
I suggest using Silverstars, Koito, PIAA I've had good luck with all these brands

Dont get APC!!! Ive tried these several times.. all failed in a month or so -.-;

I've been running 65W lows and 100W highs for three years. No trouble.

Not necessarily. Where the reflectors aim it is of almost as much importance, and there's nothing you can do to help that.
