Okay so I got to start the TSI and after messing with some stuff making sure all the vacum ports were capped and what not I checked timing with a friends help. The timing is way off, so far off we cannot correct it with the cam angle sensor. What could be causing this, any help would be appreciated, thanks. The timing of the cams, crank, oil pump and balance shafts are all correct.

You didn't mess with the belt, correct? Is it possible that you messed with the cam sensor and forgot to put it back to its position? If it is off 180*, you're car shouldn't be able to run.

I just replaced the timing belt, balance shaft belt, and clutch, cam angle sensor and put in 1g cams in my 96 manual trans. GSX.. .. went to start it and it turns over, gets spark, fuel, compression, but still wont start.. :barf: i'm sick of mitsuf*ckme's.. should have kept my honda

As for the cam angle sensor question, I tried adjusting it, too far gone for that, so I took it out, flipped the rotor just to try and same thing, so I think the cam angle sensor might be shot.

Did you ground out the special plug so you can set the timing?

If you had the timing belt off just recently I'dalmost bet money that you didn't line it right when you put it back on. Set everything at tdc and check all your timing marks. If they are ok pull off the CAS and check to see that it's not flipped 180 degrees.

no, i take blame for my mistake.. i was just in a hurry to get it done... but mitsubishi's in general are very maintancy and it seems like everytime you turn around you have to work on it... ;) should have kept my type-r :(

ps) both my cars are for sale... :thumb:

Thanks for the ideas guys. I grounded out the little plug thing to adjust timing. I'll check for TDC again, but it should be there. I got it to about 10 degress before TDC, so still a little too advanced, so maybe one of the cams is a tooth off or something, as for the CAS, it's weird, if I take it out and flip it 180, which I have a few times to see if it makes a difference, it doesn't, which is odd. Anyways, I'll keep working on it, thanks for all the help. Now I just have to get those extra 5 degrees and then figure out what the hell the clicking noise is, ha. Darn DSM's ha.
