im planning on purchasing an s-afc for my 1990 plymouth laser i was wondering what the difference was between the two models and to find otu which would be most compatible for my car ... also ..what is a diescent price for the perffered unit ?

The only major difference between the 2 is that the SAFC has a 8 point adjustable curve, and the SAFC2 has a 12 point adjustable curve. The AFC2 is harder to work with due to the knob thing. I personally will be gettin either the SAFC or just the MAFT V2.0 when it comes out b/c it is a better tuning device then the AFC.

The S-AFCII can also save two seperate fuel maps and load up one or the other. Also has a password lock and is a bit smaller.

I like the fact that the SAFCII has the two seperate settings so i can set one for low boost and one for higher boost and don't have to drive around all day with the boost cranked up

the new afc just has more features, more ne points, 2 saved maps, password lock, a knock display, and its a little smaller.
i have owned both styles, and personaly i like the safc better then the safc v2 because its so damn hard to adjust things with the new style knob and stick when driving. the old style with 6 buttons was alot easier to use, espicalyto tune while actually driving the car.
but then again, i do own a safc v2 right now because i need the 2 saved maps for different boost levels. but if the old style safc had 2 saved maps i would get rid of mine for it in a second.

How safe is it to tune your car while driving... shouldn't you have all eyes on the road..... j/k Its probly just as safe as me trying to read my pocketlogger at full throttle..

i have my afc mounted right under my head unit, so its right in front of my shifter where its easy to reach(since i have a hacked 2g mas, im constantly making adjustments). i actually find it harder to look at my pocket logger then it is to adjust the afc settings.

but im kinda used to adjusting the afc without really looking at it, the knob on the afc clicks when you turn it so i can just count the clicks and watch where im going. but the old afc was even easier to use, i think the lack of previous and next buttons is what makes it so hard to use, pushing that stick in without pushing it a direction is kinda hard.
