Vancouver,
$50 more for the V2..

Is there really a difference??? I read that the V2 uses 2 different diameter piping to create multiple frequency sound waves that help charge the cylinders with air throughout the entire rpm range.. WTF does that mean?? LOL

Sorry for another intake thread LOL.. this one wasn't discussed.

Anyone have pics of their AEM intake? :D

Do they have one for the 4g64? anyways, ya if you look on the aem site they show dynos and stuff. there basically saying they use sound waves to push air in the cylinders. i got the aem v1, i like it, and it sounds badass.

heres some pics... dont mind that little nozzle, that doesnt come with it :D

Nice pics!! thank you.. I think im gonna get the V1..

I dont think the V2 is worth the extra pop bottles ima have to collect LOL

Is it hard to pop off the front bumper covers?? I felt around underneath, i think there are 3 tabs u gotta release.. 2 I got off, but the 3rd is like a little different? I dont wanna snap them.. is there a trick to this?? ima n00b LOL approaching day 3 of my new DSM LOL

When i removed mine all i did was took a flathead screwdriver and put a couple of paper towels over it so i didn't scratch the paint then i just stuck it in on the sides closest to the center opening and pulled and pried they came right out along with the tabs simple as that.
Hope that helps

I don't know anything about the v2, but the vents are super easy,
step one lie on the ground
step two reach under car, about where the vent conver is
step three push on backside of vent cover using 1-2 ft lbs of pressure

This is being sarcasitc and I'm sorry but it is that simple the clips let go real easy, the cover comes off, then you pull the clips, takes less than 30 seconds

Chris:

You should really place the zex smart box (currently next to the intake/battery) in a more sleeperish position......say in my car :p .

EDIT: I have a cai, it came on the car, it was the one thing the owner did for it  . I know it isn't an aem, it looks like a custom one with 2.5" Piping, goes all the way down tho, really low......Grabs alot of power especially since i changed the air filter from that non-good one (lack of better word) one the owner had.

EDIT #2: I just noticed you were a noob, welcome to dsmtuners! Can i ask you something? What mod are you planning on doing?

whatcha talking about, thats the definition of a sleeper

i had trouble getting the covers off cuz the clips had spikes that dug into the plastic. i actually used(dont laugh) wire strippers to get it off as it had an inward needle type thing to grip under the clips and pull them off.

ya, i thought that the tubing was too thin to thread, so i drilled a 5/9(dont hold me to that just trying to remember) hole in the intake, and put the bulkhead in that it came with. then the nozzle screws into the bulkhead.

Thanx for the welcome!

My first mod is gonna be a new intake.

I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with the new AEM V2, in comparison with the V1. Any major differences.. I dont think the extra dollars are worth it IMO, but again, I haven't seen anyone with one yet.

I have the V2. I don't know the difference because I never owned the AEM V1. What I can tell you is that it sounds really bad a** at full throttle. I also went from running a 16.6 to running a 16.4. Don't know if this helps but good luck.

Im in the same boat as Redliine, noob looking for first mod.

Something also to consider is the bypass valve for the 2 intakes. I know the bypass works for the V1, but is there any spot on the V2 where a Bypass could be mounted?

Also, does anyone know what diameter the V1 and V2 are so I know witch bypass to get?

(yes I searched)

Sorry for the Semi-Hijack, but it seemed on topic enough moreso then a new thread ;)

oooh good point.. I live in Vancouver and in the winter months it rains like HELL.. I would need th BPV.. V1 is probably my answer because it comes with it doesnt it?..

Rak99NT- Yea actually I bought my first mod already haha.. i picked up upper front strut bar LOL.. w0000! I pick it up saturday, can't wait to install it LOL.. big 5 min job coming up :p

no it does not come with it, nor is it necisarly necissary. just avoid deep puddles and you will be fine.

Im using the V1 aem cold air intake, and i ran a 16.4 with stock tires, i mean, dont get me wrong, i do have an apexi N1 cat back also, but i def think the v2 aem is not worth the extra moeny. Save the money and pick up some more bolt ons, that is my 2 cents, LOL.

Sounds like a plan man, if you dont have the msd ignition coil pack, that would be my reccomendation for sure. it is only 70 bucks at exileracing.com and it def adds some throttle response. I dunno, im doing header and hi flo cat next, so im hoping that further helps with my cat back. Should be some good quick bolt ons.

Someone over on 2gnt.com dynoed the AEM V1 and AEM V2 on two sepereate 2GNTs (I don't remember which intake was on which car) .

One car had over 100k miles (If I remember correctly) and the other, well, didn't have near as much miles.

The results....they made the same power BUT the V2 was proven to accelerate quicker than the V1. (Could it have been the 2G with less miles?)

What does that mean you ask? Well, I don't know exactly but it was proven. :p

I would post the dyno sheets but they are no longer hosted, so all you would see is a red "X".

Best bet is to find the thread starter on 2gnt.com . :D

iight 1st off, take the v2. the v2 gives you power across the wholeeeee powerband, sounds realll nice (hey they both sound nice) and is def. worth the money. i havent experienced the v2 on n e dsm cars but im also in2 acuras n my racin friend (a girl!!! :D :thumb: ) got the v2 on a new rsx. she said she felt alotttta improvement comp. 2 a reg intake. and 2 answer another ? in this thread, the v2 comes in a short ram so its no need to get a bypassvalve. my boi had a reg cai on a 2000 tegra wit no bypassvalve and went in2 a puddle (LOL) and blew his engine the f**k up!! we had 2 put everything stock bac on it so the acura people wouldnt kno n e thing and he kept his warranty. turns out he cracked his piston rod in 4 places  n had 2 get a new engine!! dis was on an integra. so wat we did was took his cai and sawed it in2 2pieces LOL and made our own short ram. so if u do decide to get a cai, go with a short ram because to get a bypass valve put on a aem cai you would get the same gains same sound and a short ram already costs cheaper!! :thumb: ;) pic below v2 shortram on a rsx

that was incredibly hard to understand.

your really not going to see a difference witha the V2, i doubt you will feel 3 hp difference. i think most of the time when people "feel" a gain, its in there head cuz they want a gain. "man i just put these new spark plugs in and this thing accelerates soo much faster" the V1 is actually louder then the V2. look on aem's website they have this whole thing about the V2 including dyno's, sound clips, and more. its pretty cool, but its all on a civic :thumbdown . check it out.
