Was having problems shifting, then no tranny at all. Got it pulled apart today and this is what I find. The whole setup, 8lb fidanza flywheel, act disc and 2600 plate, all had about 5000 miles on them.

What should I do about the flywheel and plate? Note the heat marks on the flywheel, and the burn marks from metal/metal contact on the plate. Are they reuseable?

Anyone think the disc could be warrantied?

Im not sure if there is a warranty. There should be. Unless you were really ripping on it for 5000 miles, it should last wayy longer.

I know there is one by the slave cylinder, but I don't know about the other one.

I attempted to launch the car probably 3 times with this setup, other than that its been driven normally. For the last 650 miles I've been being real nice breaking in my engine.

well, I thought about buying an act 2100, but not so sure now..eek...surely it would still be warrantied. Was it broke in properly?

Honestly I can't really see the pics BC in on my phone. BUT I had a similar problem with my pressure plate. I would call ACT. They told me to mail my PP back. And I got a new one free of charge.

The PP had a bent diaphragm/fingers and they couldn't tell if it was user error or manufacturing problem. I only had drven it maybe 50-100 miles.

When a disk breaks like that you have a serious alignment issue between the engine and trans. Disks don't just break that way for no reason. I doubt they will warranty it as it's not their fault, but they might to be kind to their customer.

If you look at the pressure plate, you'll see it was touching the springs as well. Yeah, like Jack said, there was more than likely an alignment issue. Were the bell housing bolts tightened? If not, what tends to happen is that the tranny can sag and the shaft on the tranny has a lot of stress on it and can get mushroomed out and since the shaft of the tranny is at an angle when the tranny is sagging, this puts stress on the clutch disc....being that it's all at an angle. Finally, well, you see what happens. Lol. Good luck to ya though. Act doesn't have the best warranty but that probably won't fall under the warranty anyway.

Would the fingers have pushed the center of the disc into the flywheel putting stress on it?
That may be the cause as well.
You still have the spacer plate on the engine? its between the flywheel and block.

Let us know what warranty says.. I have the same fidanza and about to put the 2600 with street disc on this week so interested in what theyll say.
