I have seen some people on here thinking about getting one so I just thought I would share my experience. I had to wait to get this one for a couple of months because the first batch they sent out were not working. The fingers would touch and stall the car when you pushed the clutch pedal down to disengage the clutch. Well the "revised" shortened finger version does the same thing. I thought it was going to be fine sice it worked to get out of my driveway but after a couple of lights it stalls when the clutch is disengaged. Very disapoiting. Makes me sick :barf: to think that I have to take the tranny back out to send the disk in to them for them to check it out. Shouldn't they have checked this out and made sure it works before they shipped it out since they were aware this was the problem with the first batch. I have a return number already so atleast they are working with me.

I replaced the master and slave cylinder they are brand new
I bled it and rechecked to be sure it wasnt the problem
I adjusted the clutch until it was releasing way to high - I figured this out by starting the car while in gear as it crept forward a little from the clutch not working just to get it home

If anyone has any suggestions maybe there is something I am missing, but I don't think so.

I just got my 6 puck spring from ACT I wanted to replace them if my street disk with 3200 pressure slippped, I had none spring 6 puck it had alot of chatter and break my tranny twice, it seems the 3200 with 6 puck none spring very harsh on the FWD tranny even if they are highly modified by JS, I wanted to use Devo Tune clutch but I don't have the money for that right now.

What is wrong with 6 puck spring ACT?
I know they recalled all the 6 puck because there were mistakes in the design, can you tell me what's wrong and how does the problem feel in the car?
I might put it in my car and then I would tell my self this is normal with 6 puck disk:(
If it's disengagment problem, I think putting singe to double washer under the pivot ball and getting longer slave would help out the problem, I doing this both thing after I replace my clutch, right now I'll put the longer slave, I already have single washer under the pivot ball and the car still move if I rev it high when the gear in 1st

I haven't taken it apart yet, but I will be doing it this weekend and then I will be able to see what is happening for sure. When I was installing it the springs looked like they were in the way and were not going to allow the fingers to move enough to disengage the clutch. I think the fingers are catching on something. Im suspecting the springs, but not sure yet. You will know what is wrong with it and not be able to mistake it for normal 6 puck stuff because you will not be able to get the car in gear and the car will stall or bog down from stuff catching when you push the clutch pedal down.

I attached pics of the disk and the pressure plate. You can see were they were rubbing together. The mark on the pressure plate fingers and the wear on the springs from were it was hitting. Horrible design. How can they send these out twice with the SAME problem?

Which pressure are you using 2900 or 3200?
Actually I'm not sure if this problem would happen with all kind of pressure and I noticed there is a date on the two spring 6 puck clutchs that I have something with 01/06 and on the package there are different date which are 06/06 if I'm not mistaken they return it back for the correction they made but they still seem to have mistakes in the design, I think I'll return them back, I don't want to pull the gear and put that and then they don't work.

I think I'll stay with street disk and 3200 if it slipped I'll go directly with devo tune, I'm sick of slipping ACT clutchs and everytime I have to put two washers under the pivot ball and longer slave for the correct disengagmnet, I think ACT 2900 and 3200 with 6 puck is a waste of time and lot of chatter, this would harm the tranny.

Actually I can't tell why did I break the tranny twice, I'm sure it's because of the 6 puck and 3200 pressure, 6 puck with 2900 or 3200 is killing the FWD tranny even if it's fully build it might be okay for the AWD tranny

So I guess it's time to get devo tune clutch or I would be so happy if the street disk holded up with 3200 pressure.

The street disk with 3200 act like it's twin plate like on/off clutch without sound and no chatter till now but I'm still doing the breakin the chatter might occure at the end of the breakin, I this clutch will last forever:)

I am using a 2600 pressure plate. The date on the disk is 3/20/06.

I put a street disk in it just for now until I can decide what clutch to go with, but I am going to try something else for sure. In my opinion I think the ACT clutches are way overated.

I want to go with a Devo tune clutch also , but the only thing stopping me from doing it is I think people are only getting about 15,000 to 20,00 miles out of them on the street until they have to replace the disks.

From what Ive heard that is about all the miles you can get out of any twin disk clutch on the street, but I am still researching this so if anyone has any info on this please let me know. Or if there is any brand that would be better for the street.

The geniuses at HKS only make a twin disk that works with the 7 bolt motor, which is retarded since most (notice I said most and not all) people making high horsepower have a 6 bolt.

I also have been thinking about going with the Spec Stage 3+ it's single disk but I they claim it holds 500 torque. Or even an Exedy twin disk but I dont think that there twin disk clutch for the eclipse comes with sprung hubs.

Another clutch that really looked cool was the FE series from South Bend clutch, but there website only offers percentages and not actual torque capabilities. I called them to find out this information and they never called me back. I guess they are really not trying that hard to sell there clutch.

I only heared one guy using the same clutch I'm using right now which is street disk with 3200 pressure it might work till 600 wheel hp, I would be so happy if the clutch holded that much hp with out chatter+cheap clutch+no sound at idle or while pushing the clutch of disengagment, good for street and daily use and the pedal effort almost like 2600 as most of the people said less pedal effort than 2900.

I made 547 and conestant about 520 wheel hp with 2900 ACT and street disk but needed to be replaced every 5-6 launches in the drag and about 10 runs on dyno and I was using ACT flywheel

I think with 3200 ACT and street clutch+fidanaza flywheel might hold like 550/600 wheel hp the only thing is disengament problem which should be gone with longer slave and double or single 1.5mm washer but I might be wrong

Devo tune is my 2nd choice but as you said I don't want to change the clutch every 15000/20000 mile by the way I didn't ride my car for 10000 mile since two years because Bahrain is very small country and no long highway and I have to stop alot and this is what would kill the clutch

so for now I'll give the ACT 3200 street disk with ACT flywheel a try and hope it hold for more than 550 wheel hp, till now no sound of chatter in my Colt but who knows once the clutch grip more it might chatter we still didn't drive the car for more than 15 mins since I fix the tranny and put a new clutch at the same time

I'll let you know how much power it would hold, if it didn't hold I'm getting devo tune clutch for sure and will give up with ACT

Ill never go back to ACT....

AMS and DEVO will also tell you the same...

Only 15,000 miles!

THAT IS AWSOME FOR A TWIN DISK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I belive its 90 dollers or so for each disk when the time is needed to change it out...

Def go with a twin disk, you can also shift faster

i have the new style act 6 puck sprung disk in my car right now but i would like to try some one else's ( i think mine warped) so i'm looking to buy a used new style act 6 puck sprung disk with the yellow springs ( might also need a 2600 pressure plate to)..email me here if u got one [email protected] thanks
