Hey guys Im somewhat new with DSMLINK and I have noticed some things while logging. I have noticed there is a log portion for HP, does anyone know how accurate this is.......or whether it is whp or flywheel hp? I plan on going to Buschur in the next couple weeks to get my car dyno'd for sure but I was just curious. Thanks

The HP calculation in dsmlink is just a rough estimate so don't take it to heart. Just input all the info it needs for your car and you should be good.

Well like I said before I still want to go have it dyno'd but I was just wondering how off it was. Thanks for the input.

my Dsmlink HP reads anywhere from 450-495hp My car weighs 3280with me in it and I trap 125-126mph So I think it might be off just a tad... I really need to get my car dynoed LOL:D All the internet HP calculators say 495-501whp and 588 crank hp... so go figure

Well, right now I have only had a couple logs but they range from 430-470hp with my setup right now. I went to log again today but my Link wasnt working right, wasnt letting me log?

log hp when you go to the dyno and tell us how off it is!!! id like to know also... Ill do this as well when i go dyno tune with dsmlink hopefully also in the next couple of weeks

I plan on heading to buschur in the next couple weeks........before I go to the track april 23 for the first time.

Link HP calcs have to many factors to deal with to be accurate. It's a tuning tool not a bragging one. The grade of the road and clutch condition play a hugh factor in it's output. If your clutch is slipping it won't be even close to accurate as it is most likely just using a RPM/time slice info for it's calcs.

What is should be used for (and I'm sure it's been said) is to see how a change in tune effects your HP in Link. You want to do it on the very same road going the same direction every time and you can do some good tunning that way w/o a dyno. Also wind speed plays a HUGH factor as well. So you are going to want to do your tunnig on the same day or at least get a base pull or 2 with the current raod/weather conditions before seeing if a change made a difference.

It does work off the same principles as a dyno cept a dyno uses mph/time instead of RPM/time calcs. I use pocket dyno to tune with on the street. When my clutch went out It said I made 800 HP. Of course it wasn't right but it's just an example. My highest good reading was like 383 HP to the wheels with a very rough tune. Palm died and I was using a laptop and my W/B to tune and never had to chance to use pocket dyno again. Just wanted to share that.

So basicly don't worry if it's close to dyno readings. It works great for a tuning tool if used correctly. When you get the best tune you can go to the dyno and see what numbers you put down and come and brag about your car. :thumb:
