Ac question

Ok. My car has ac but I know it has a leak because I recharged the system and the ac was super cold, but for only a month. I understand that its usually a faulty o-ring and you would generally use dye to find the leak.. So, my question is where are the o-rings located and is that my problem. I'm also missing the low ac port cap. Would that cause my ac pressure to leak? I'm not an ac expert so excuse me for my noob question.

You need to run dye thru the system then have it looked over with a black light to find the leak. It's about the only way to find a leak unless you can see or hear it. And there are orings at every connection point in the system! You could try and do a recharge with a can of freon stop leak stuff, it may be enough to fix it or it may leak out again. But I think the stop leak stuff has dye in it to so that's a plus. And the lower cap missing should effect anything, it's just there to protect and keep dirt out of the shrader valve. You could have a bad evap core or rusted out receiver dryer or bad condenser core or just a bad oring, really hard to say bro sorry!

As far as the cap goes its mainly there to keep dirt and debris out it isn't really there to prevent it from leaking. I also have part numbers for the o-rings if you need them.

I don't really know anything about a/c systems other than recharging it. But I would say just delete your a/c and roll down your windows. Just my bias opinion, I hate a/c's

DSMKauai is quite accurate. However, Charging the system with R-134a/R-12 without an A/C machine to recover it afterward can be expensive. Assuming you don't have access to $2000 A/C machine a cheap and eco friendly way to charge the system is with nitrogen. It wont cool your system but the pressure will trick your system into running properly allowing that pressure buildup to push the dye out of the leak.

Ok guys. I'm gonna wait till it gets dark and use the dye to find the leak. Hopefully it's a simple fix and nothings wrong with the ac condenser nor the core support.
