2G Ac knob broken?

No matter where I turn the knob, half of the air comes out of the defrost vents. My question is how do I remove the center air vent properly and what's going on exactly? From my manual, it says something about disconnecting the cool air bypass cable and pop the center vent open?My car is mint inside and out so there's no way a rat infestation occurred. No work has ever been done behind the dash before. Thanks again.

From the way you described it the trap door that guides the air flow is stuck. Defrost is the default position for many vehicles. This way at least one could still be able to defrost the windows in order to still be able drive the car.

Unfortunately this is about the extent of my knowledge on our cars. I haven't had to mess with mine yet. When I have time later I will get on my pc and look at the service manual to try and help you out if I can. I am on my phone at the moment but will be back at my pc in a few hours.
