The AC is no longer cooling. I took it to a friend who said it had no freon....so we filled it up and it only worked for 2 days. I went ahead and bought the dye in order to find where the leak is, but was unsuccessful. I took out the evaporator and found some of the dye in there, but still no leak. The dye was just sitting inside of the evaporator. I leak tested the evaporator and found no leaks. Any ideas where else the problem could be coming from? Could it be clogged, but if it was...where did all the freon go? Please help. Thanks! :thumb:

The best way to check the AC is get a set of manifold gauges. Evac the sysetem, then watch the low side guage it should be in vacuum, if it rises to 0 then there is a external leak somewhere (As far as finding the leak if dye is unsuccessful try spraying soapy water on the lines). If the gauge rises above 0 then there is a clog in the system not allowing the refrigerant to be evacuated. To find a clog you can refill system turn on AC and fell the lines The Line from Compressor to Condensor should be hot, from Condensor to metering device should be warm, from metering device to Evap should be cold and from evap to compressor should be cool. A restriction usaully causes sweat on the line around it adn teh Refrigerant is cold after it. You can also use the manifold gauges while its runnning to check low side and high pressures.

I hope some of that helps.
