I may have exaggerated a bit, but I do need help :D
So I found this cl add for a greddy exhaust. Full 3" turboback for $300. Seems like a good deal and I'm supposed to pick up tomorrow. The thing is its over an hour drive so I want to know its worth it.
These are my questions:
1. Is there a way to confirm its a true greddy exhaust?
2. Any things to look out for (warning signs)?
Any info would be great :)

Oh one more thing. He's selling it for a friend who pulled it off what he "thinks"is a gst(his friend is deployed). Is this a fwd exhaust?

looks good muffler should be stamped greddy and it should be a 3 piece exshaust if im not mistaking but from the small picture it looks like a fwd exshaust, I'd give him 250, gas is expensive these days ROFL

Cool thanks for the info
I was thinking fwd too since the gsxs are supposed to have more of a straight though piping.
LOL thinking the same thing ;)

Like codeofdastreets said ask him for 250 and see what he says. I wouldn't do it if I were you though, you can just go on Ebay and get a brand new one with an exhaust manifold for 200 flat.

You can get an exhaust off ebay for 200 shipped. The japanimportshop is good. Thats what I got and wasnt a bad deal. Sure beats driving and then paying gas and then the exhaust. Just something to think about. Pipe is pipe.

I was thinking about an ebay one but I don't want something that sounds like a fartcan. Do the gaskets hold up? I hear most ebay ones don't work and you get exhaust leaks. I'll look into it though thanks for the tip.

The I havent had any problems yet. To be honest the hangers arent in a bad place. Thats what you pay for is the fitment. The only problem I had was it scraped off the ground a few times because my hanger broke but thats my fault. I would reccommend it for anyone. It doesnt sound like a fartcan.

On the contrary it doesn't sound like a fart-can at all, it actually has a really nice tone to it. As for the gaskets I haven't heard anything bad about em' either. A buddy of mine has the complete ebay exhaust system on his, and is the primary reason I'm gonna order mine. :thumb:

I dont remember seeing any Greddy style mufflers like that one, it looks exactly like the N1 Apex'i style muffler. Other than that it is a GST exhaust..it looks like it is routed under the rear axle instead of stock over the axle. It can't be a "TRUE" Greddy turbo back, Greddy never made any 3" downpipes for the DSM that I know of. Where in Cali is it? When you go pick it up look for stamps in the muffler signifying its a Greddy muffler, if no sign of it being Greddy call him out on that and offer him something lower.

Here is my GReddy catback exhaust. Brand new, straight from the box.

I never found any GReddy turbo-back exhausts, I looked.

Hmm I'm leaning more and more to an ebay one. What about the hangers? Wrong location? Or is it more of a "they'll break off"kind of deal?
Yea I never found a true turbo back either. I was thinking its a cat with some no name dp.
Just seems more iffy if it even IS a true greddy now. If I'm going to pay 200-300 for something "knock off" I might as well get a brand new one from ebay.

Its over in riverside. And by downtown la so yea OMG
I'll ask him for a picture of the greddy stamp on the muffler. if its not there I'll go with ebay.

Just remember that ebay only sells cat-backs and downpipes...not "turbo back" so youll spend about $250ish on the cat-back and another $100 on the downpipe

Man there are so many things wrong with that ad i cant tell where to start. It looks like an 'ok' system to the naked eye, but believe me youll probably regret getting it as it looks like total crap to me. Not to mention that he admits to being a reseller as he says you need to contact the manu if you have an issue with it. Screams chinese knock off at best.

If you can weld, or have a friend or know a shop that will treat you right, get one from here and what ever muffler you want (i recommend Magnaflow, youll get a limited lifetime warranty) and for $350-400 total youll have a system that will probably outlast your car. Dont think im saying you have to buy the muffler from them though, my local auto parts stocks/carries Magnaflow so you might find a better deal.

I ran an A'pexi N1 turbo-back exhaust on my old GST.. In my opinion it's the best sounding exhaust on a DSM. Just throwing out my opinion. Good luck on your decision :)

I wouldnt call that the 'best sound' but yea i did like them and you could tell if it was an N1 or something else. Buschur sounds damn good too, but then ive built quite a few that sounded really sweet over the years, so i might be biased :)

Yea I can weld. 10 years experience. I would weld my own but I don't have the time. I'd rather buy something pre made and just bolt on.
I love the sound of the N1, but its like 600, not to mention the dp. I'd rather not spend that much.

Well thats fine and dandy i just recommend against that particular one. Maybe try finding a used Buschur or something.
