One other question, sorry if it's off topic, but is it true once you've served 20 years you can retire? So say you started at 20, when you're 40 you can start recieving a pension(?) and then start another career in the military for another 20 years and by the time you're 60 you'll be recieving 2 pensions?
Just curious how life is in the military compared to civilian life. I'm about to have 2 kids (second on the way) and I want to see if it would be better for me to sway them in the direction of a military life or work 2 jobs like I did getting through college...when they get to that age of course.

$1657/month BAH. That's crazy. & I thought the $920 they gave us in Cali was high.
