Cool-- good luck with that. So, not to be morose or anything, but since you said you're still driving the car, do you think you might can bring your car to the DSM meet this Sunday so we can all hear what crankwalk sounds like in person? Please tell me if I'm being an insensitive prick for asking something like that, but I thought it might be educational.

I just realized, though, that this Sunday is Super Bowl Sunday, so I don't know how big a turnout we'll have at the DSM meet this time.

how much is Darren going to charge you and with what options?
i might have darren build me a 6-bolt this summer, just woundering bout his prices...

there are many Miami DSM members that HIGHLY recommend Darren:thumb:

I'll consider coming to the meet but I really don't like to drive the car any further than I have to. When I installed the new CAS what I ended up doing was placing two washers between the sensor and the block to extend the CAS out a little. I started it up and the noise was gone. When I put everything back together and started it again the noise was back. Most likely because of the pressure of the clutch on the flywheel move the crank around more so the reluctor began to interfere with the CAS. The CAS wil not install backwards because the reluctor would tear it off and the wires coming out of the CAS are angled so that you can only put it in the right way. For that reason I used washers. I have my old CAS and I'll post a pic of it as soon as I get a camera. The damage is apparent.

About Darrens pricing, It is very reasonable. For under $2K I'm gettng everything done including the 6-bolt itself. I do not wish to disclose the exact amount over this board so if you want the estimate he gave me, PM me.

Well yesterday my CAS quick fix failed on me. I was coming out of the Taco Bell and my car just decided to take a nice knap right in the middle of Northlake Blvd. It was weird because the whole time I was riding on the quick fix it felt like I was driving a narcaleptic vehicle. Now I find myself bumming rides from work to home. I am just waiting on Darren to give me the go ahead to bring my car down to him. This $hit sucks a$$!

UPDATE!!! My car is now down in Ft. Lauderdale at Darren's "office". I got towed down there for $100. It's good to have friends with a tow truck. The swap should be done by the end of the week. I have to get a 1G water pump, FWD flywheel, and an Air-Air oil cooler. I can get the pump and cooler from PepBoys where I work but I have to somewhere find a flywheel. Does anyone have a 6-bolt FWD flywheel they're willing to part with?

sorry, just had to bring in the biology class commentary... :D

actually a virus can come back more than once for instance, the ebola virus IF treated can come back again, also a viral flu is another, just had to clear that up

Hi guys, If I had known about the horrible tick of death I probabbly wouldn't have bought the '97 GSX I have right now. I took the oil pan off and mounted my motor on an engine stand. the Chiltons manual I have said about .002-.0071" of end play on my crank shaft. I checked it and I have somewhere between .009-.010". with this little play can I just replace the bearings on the crank and maybe get the crankshaft machined? I need a non BS anwser I am in college and do not have the money for some tunner to try and convince me I need a 6-bolt! I already have one. its a '90 with a 138k on it and I got it out of a car that had an engine fire. I also can't drive my GSX because I am just trying to make the payments on it. If someone trys to tell me I need to spend 1-2G's on this I think I will put a dent in their DSM! As you can tell I am alittle stressed I have a negative income, no car, and 3 4 hour finals next week. that is elctrical systems, Dynamics of machinery, and Materials engineering. anyway I had better quit ranting and raving before I have a stroke.

thanks for the help guys

Well I took her home today. Have an exhaust leak from a faulty Fel-Pro manifold gasket. I'm going to replace that tomorrow with a Mitsu one from the dealer as soon as I get off duty. (gotta love active duty pay)
I also have to get a boost leak taken care of but other than that the car took me from Ft. Lauderdale to West Palm Beach so I can't complain. I have to cut the summary short because I have to report at 5:45 in the morning so I need my rest after a Greyhound bus ride from Gainesville.

i need a tranny for a 98 gst some say first gen tranny will work some say no. does anyone know if a 94/98 has 6 or 7? i would look myself but my car is out of town in a shop. i need to know if they'll work.please help

Shit, when i push in my clutch, about half way down where it starts engaging i can feel something non normal in the clutch pressure. PSI said its the Throughout bearing bbeing "pissed" , but if i listen and push the clutch in when the cars off i can hear it make a creeking noise when i push it in. it feels like when im pushing the clutch in, I gotta push down harder like im pushing thru something. Everything engages just fine, but i noticed, if i have the car in first gear, and just BARELY let off the clutch to where it starts to engage, my car will very slowly creep forward with no gas.

anyone know what this means???

Totally random to bring this topic back, but I'll try to help you out...

Don't know about the tranny question, but 90-92 has 6 bolt, 93-99 has 7 bolt. Is that what you were asking about the 6 or 7 thing?

thanks thats what i thought, im kinda curious about the lower tranny mount(to the support) i dont see on on the 94 tranny i bought but my 98 has mounts. the upper one to the fire wall is there for sure. i wonder if this is possible. im attempting it is this weekend. ill let you know how it goes. any info is welcome.
