I'm currently making a list of parts and so forth for my goal of 300hp. So I have a few questions concerning the factory exhaust on a 1995 Talon TSI FWD. So here's my questions...
First: What is the stock sizing of the pipe? I would like to just bolt up a new exhaust, with a cat delete test pipe. I'm not a very good welder I can IF I have to, I just prefer to do direct bolt on.
Second: Is the stock piping OK for the 300hp goal? I have a new muffler on it already, and I'm getting a new o2 housing dump and downpipe. And also a test pipe.
Third:Any recommendations, or advice when I actually hang my new exhaust.

Thanks in advance! :)

300hp is pretty hard to get with stock exhaust. Turbo cars need a big exhaust in order to open up with big power. But you said you have a muffler, cat., O2 housing and such so 300hp is not out of reach.

The only piping I HOPE to keep stock if I can do so, is from test pipe > muffler. I believe the size is 2.5" anyways, but that's why I asked, I'm not certain. I would run 3" but I don't like welding and I would have to get pretty much a WHOLE new exhaust which will be around $800 +. Any more info would be appreciated.

well the bigger the exhaust the better. there are some 3" exhaust out there that are cheap and they do the same job as a Apexi or something. and i would stick with the direct bolt on. i think the stock exhaust is like 2.25 to 2.5". im prob goin to go with the ssautochrome 3" and it comes with a downpipe for $325 for my gsx but idont know if they have some for a gst.

Stock exhaust size is 2". For your 300hp goal, if you don't plan to ever make more power down the road and really have that hp goal set, i would recommend a full 2.5" exhaust, it'll be more than enough.

Sweet thanks man. Yeah I don't ever plan to go higher as long as it's my DD. I have my Camaro for my track and weekend car. I did find a nice turbo back on SBR for around $650-800 depending on diameter and aluminum or ss. Thanks for your response! :)
