I have a 95 GSX and after my FMIC install im overheating on the highway.

I already did the t-stat and small crap like that. Next it the Koyo Radiator i just bought, and some new aluminum ducting to replace the plastic OEM duct that was ripped out a long time ago.

If that doesnt help like i want it to, i want to pull a fuse or relay that will kill the A/C compressor ONLY while letting me hit the A/C switch to turn the fan on.

if it doesnt work (cool the water enough),

After that i will be pulling the a/c condensor, but want to keep the belt on the compressor so when i sell the car in a year or 2 that can be a + selling point.
("the car has a/c you just need to plug this in and recharge the system")

EDIT: the car has a/c but there is a purge in one of the lines so IF i were to use it again it would have to be fixed first.

any help is apreciated.

where is this plug you speak of???

is it in the fuse box or something??

Do the following in sequence as needed.

1. Rewire the AC fan to the radiator fan so both will come on at the same time, then add a bottle of Redline water wetter.

2. Replace the stock fans with two 12" slim lines with higher CFM.

3. Remove the condensor, might as well the entire AC system.

4. Aftermarket aluminum radiator with a thicker core.

no offence but im tired of spending money on this car...
Ive done it for 2 years bringing it back to its current dependable (knocks on wood) state.
I just added the FMIC and i got a Koyo radiator cause it was 250 new in box from a local.
I still dont think im putting that in if the ducting works.
just sell it on here or localy.

Like my first post said.
I want to keep the A/C FUNCTIONAL just not OPERATIONAL.

so where exactly is that fuse/relay im supposed to unplug??
my car runs 199*F on the highway with the A/C fan running but its taking its toll on my gas little by little.
I need to shut down the compressor only.

Bruce:

1) Will do at the same time as the Koyo install

2) NOT AN OPTION (would rather sell the FMIC and get a HRC super sidemount or equal)

3) Want to keep it in for the next owner (makes it look less like a kids racecar, more like a fast eclipse with stock features)

4) Got it

clarify:

Condensor: radiator like object in front of the radiator and behind my intercooler

Compressor: self explanitory.

went out and looked at the condensor and the lines that run to and from it.

there is a cylindar looking object a couple inches from the condensor with a small glass "look thru lens" on it with in and out lines that go to the condensor. there is also a plug in that as well not even a half an inch from that glass lens.

is that the plug??

EDIT: the plug is in the same spot that this yellow line goes to behind the headlight.

How hot does the car get on the highway without the A/C fan on? Does it overheat at idle?

I consider anything over 210 to be overheating, since that's when the ECU turns the radiator fan on. If it's hovering below 210 without the A/C fan on, I wouldn't worry about it. The weather is pretty hot right now anyway.

up to 222* on the highway with no fan on or heater blowing to release underhood temps.
then i get scared and turn on the heat and press the A/C fan.

around town i can hit 213 with no fan and no heat on, regular fan comes on a 210 but your right it is a little hot out right now.

can i get to it by jacking up the car or do i have to stick my hand down behind the intake manifold?

so the belt will still turn but the clutch in the compressor wont engage to put a load on it, right??

thanks guys

just wanted to update that last night i made my new ducting out off sheets of aluminum
pretty crude but im not lookin to win any shows.

Old highway temps- 203 slowly climbing to 222 and then highway fans come on.

as of last night- 195 goes to 199 and STAYS PUT.

I put on the a/c fan just to see and it started going down more!

sorry i dont have a camera of any kind but its pretty streight forward if you just take the bumper and FMIC off and look at it.

I cut a strip off about 23" X 20"
sized it up so the 23" was going under the A/C condensor and cut a small strip out of the middle of that to accomodate the support bar that the stock P/S cooler is attatched to.
that was really it.

i also made a small one for the top where the hood latch/lock was.

like i said it doesnt look pretty at all but hey, it works.
