Bought this car awhile back. Have not touched it performance wise. I was driving the other day and I started to notice my a/f gage was lightly hinting in the red zone, pegged low lean. After a bit more driving, it pegged low lean bright red and check engine light came on. When I got home, I put the scanner on it and got back p0135. Here's my question: does having the a/f gauge mean I have a wideband? I'm not sure. I noticed the o2 sensor at the bottom of the manifold. But I'm not entirely sure how that gauge gets a signal. The cars definitely running in limp mode. The exhaust smells like an 8th grade bon fire :) I wont leave this problem. However, if my options are $300 mitsubishi o2 sensor OR pay the extra for dsmlink and hook everything up the right way, I think it might be time to drive old whitey for a bit

A code P0135 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: O2 Heater element resistance is high Internal short or open in the heater element O2 heater circuit wiring high resistance open or short to ground in the wiring harness

I would see if it is a 2-3-4 wire 02 sensor and get the same type aftermarket and all that,s different is no OEM plug so hack it off ur old one and its very simple wiring. If a heated 02 sensor will have more wires etc. If you want OEM I can try find you alot cheaper and new.

You can find numerous OEM o2 sensors for like 40-80 dollars, straight plug in too, you can find them on amazon. Bosch, denso, good brands no knock off names

So I kinda jiggled the wires that come from the gauge and obviously slice into the original cable run.....no lean readings. Stoic like I want it. I'm in my way to radio shack to get some connectors and heat shrink. Deleted the code too and hasn't come back in yet. My votes on a short but I'll know for sure once I remove the electrical tape. God bless the half-ass DIY installer guy. Reeeeeal man of geeeenius.
