Hi guys,
I’ve been a lurker for a little while, but this is my first post. I’m not a DSM owner….I have a STI, so don’t flame on me to much :p

Anyways, here’s the meat….my buddy has a 98 Eclipse GS-T.

He has the following mods:
BR440 Turbo Kit running at 23psi
Greddy?? FMIC
680cc Injectors/Walbro 255
3” O2 housing/3” exhaust – no kitties
Ported Stock Exhaust Manifold
Crushed 1G BOV
Ghetto’d Injen Intake to fit on 4” turbo inlet
TXS Boost Controller
SAFC-II
He’s getting the pocket logger in a day or two

Here are my questions as I know more about tuning than he does. What is roughly the optimum AFR for this motor? What is the optimum timing this motor likes to work around so that I can adjust my AFR’s accordingly.

I work for Mustang Dyno, so I have unlimited access to dyno time and a wideband. Yesterday at 20psi, the most I could squeeze out of his car was ~291WHP. This turbo should be good for ~350WHP, so what am I missing. Granted I don’t have the pocket logger yet to see what his timing is doing and I’m sure that it will help out quite a bit.

But if you could let me know what the afr and timing should be, that would be awesome. His car on 20psi seemed to be pretty happy running ~11.5:1 in the mid-range and then tapered off to 11:1 up top. But it was still popping and jerky.

Thanks,
Tim
