I just recently finished installing the motor out of my 97 into my brothers 95. Now the hangup is the easiest way to do the Cam/Crank angle sensors. It is a stock 97 motor, not a 1g head swap<----only info I could find was 1g CAS or head swap.

I was wondering what would be the easiest way to get this to work. I am having a boatloads of trouble finding a 2Ga CAS and since its a 97 it doesnt have the needed crank angle sensor (or am I wrong).I have access to both ECU'S so would it be easier to swap the 97 ecu into the 95 and wire up the 97 CAS and if so does anyone have a diagram of the wiring I would have to do? Or is their and easier was of doing this, maybe just a simple 1g CAS swap?

Any info and help would be appreciated.

the 97-99 has both the crank angle sensor and a cam angle sensor. The cam angle sensor is located and bolted to the passenger side of the intake cam. You'll notice on the 97 motor there should be a large metal housing that is not present on 95-96's. I don't know if the plug or wiring is the same, but that is the CAS that you will need to use if you are using a 97-99 ECU. The Crank angle sensor is located, obviously, behind the crank pulley where the crank blade (bronze bowtie looking thing) is. Also, if you are using a 95-96 ECU with a 97 cam angle sensor, just swap your plugs for the firing orders. 1 for 2 and 3 for 4.

If I were you and had a 97-99 in there, I would just use the 97-99 ECU and get the cam angle sensor wired up. Either way it's pretty easy. You just have to keep oranges to oranges and apples to apples.

Like Tom said, you can get it to work just fine with either the 2gb ECU (and hopefully score a '95 EPROM ECU out of the deal) or let him keep the ECU and swap the plug wires. You should also swap the injector plugs:

Green: Pin 1 is now 14
Green w/ yellow stripe: Pin 2, is now Pin 1
Green w/ red stripe: Pin 15, is now Pin 2
Yellow w/ black stripe: Pin 14 is now Pin 15

cool. i was wanting to put the 97 ecu in actually so i can get the EPROM from him :thumb: DSMlink here i come, LOL. anyway does anyone happen to have a wiring diagram that would be of use or know which wires i would have to plice and change. The connectors are different so Im sure im gonne need to do somethin.

I did look at that but thats for a 1g cas swap into a 2g not a 2ga cas into a 2gb, LOL.

Ill be using that when I wire up my motor with the 1g head swap though.

Anyone have anything that would help?

Ignore the CAS part, scroll down to the injector part and it will give you an ECU pinout and tell you the wires to swap. Its not completely necessary, but I notice my car runs alot smoother after the swap.

If you are for sure swapping in the 2gb ECU as well, then ignore all lf it.

K that helps some. Im pretty sure he's getting my 97 ECU in his 2gb and Im gettin his 95.

So once figure out all of the wiring for the sensors(which I still need help with), the switching of the injector pins will help it run more smoothly?

The issues Im running into are that the sensor plug in the 97 has 3 wires and the one in the 95 only has 2 and the plugs arent the same. I need a way to modify the 95 harness to fit the 97 plug.
