Looking for dsmlink in an ecu as soon as possible and see them on here but does it matter what year of ecu it comes from?

The years of the ECU from 95-99 with ecmlink doesnt matter. Depending on what year you get you might just have to invert the cas which can be done with link installed.

If you have the metal 97 ecu, you can get it converted to eprom and you will not need to invert cas or switch spark plug wires.

When you invert the cas thru link i dont think it requires you to swap plugs.. All you have to do is check in the box and your done.

Yes you can use 95-97 ecu with link in a 95-99 car but the op is asking what ECU he can install link in and that is only 95-97.

2G Plug Wire Swap and CAS Inversion Details


When installing a '95 EPROM ECU (or '96) on car with a non-'95/'96 style cam angle sensor, you have to rearrange the plug wires. You will also want to check the "Use non-95/96 style cam angle sensor" checkbox in the Misc tab of the ECU Config tab (called "Invert CAS" option in the ECU→Miscellaneous dialog in the older V2 application).

When installing a '97 ECU that has been converted to EPROM on a car with a 1g or 2gb cam angle sensor, you would not need check the box to invert the CAS and swap plug wires, as the signals should be the same as the ECU is expecting to see. However, if you are installing it in a car with a '95/'96 cam angle sensor, you do need to check the box to invert the CAS, as well as swap the plug wires.

If you don't know whether you have a '95/'96 style cam angle sensor or not, check the passenger side of the valve cover for an externally mounted cam angle sensor. If one is present, you'll see it installed in the area shown below

I'm using 95 ecu with EPROM and dsmlink in my 97. I need to do wire swap and the CAS thing?

Does auto or 5speed matter?

If you are using a 95 ECU in a 97 you will need to swap plug wires and if you are using the stock 97 CAS you need to check the invert CAS box. I doesn't matter if the ECU is from an auto or manual.
