97-99 420a in my 96???? Help!

So to make a long story short my 96 nt threw a rod last December, since then I've been collecting aftermarket parts and what not. Anyways I bought a "rebuilt" motor from a guy off craigslist. Motor was great looking everything OK only had to replace a few minor things. So right now the motor is in my car with everything good to go accept for a few things. The motor I bought came with the wrong cam sensor and the 97-99 oil pressure sensor, leading me to believe its a 2gb 420a. I thought a 420a was a 420a....but I guess I was wrong??
Will this motor work? I'm reading a lot of stuff where I have to do a ton of rewiring....and honestly I've lost so much blood over this car I'm on my last leg. So what do I do?

Any advise will help great fully.

The motor will work fine, I believe the situation you are running into is that you have a 96 wiring harness in the car which utilized round pin connections on the crank, coilpack, and perhaps a couple other sensors. 95-96 used these types of connectors. 97-99 switched to flat pin connectors. It's been awhile, I don't recall all of them that are like this. So start there.

As far as I know, buying new sensors will not work. It would be ideal for you to get the pigtails/connectors out of a 97-99 chassis wiring harness from a junkyard or order new and clip the old 96 connectors on your wiring harness and swap the new ones in.

I did end up getting some new pigs tails for the cam position sensor, seemed to be the only one that didn't match. But when I put coolant in it was leaking out of the water pump so the guy I got this rebuilt motor from screwed me.. So I guess problem solved and new one created. Guess Ill just get a used 96 one.
