96 TSI should i buy?

ok i am going to go look at a 96 eagle tsi later and i am wanting my g/f to get a good car and i am new to the dsm world would you all recommend this as a good car? is there any motor defects tranny problems(auto) the car is 3000 t has 140k on the clock should i look else where please reply as soon as possible going to look at it later.

Any used car is a gamble, especially one that's a decade old. Just look for basic maintenance stuff...
tires
brakes
timing belt (60k)
oil changes
tranny fluid
stuff like that, if you're asking if a 96 talon is a bad choice imparticular, then no, there's not really any year specific problems. However, all 2g's, 95+ are prone to a bearing failure referred to as crankwalk. Maybe have a mechanic or someone who knows DSMs take a look at it for you.
