I bought this GSX back in August with a bodykit, lambo orange paintjob, and a knocking engine. I started taking the ngine out the next day a little at at time, and about 2 weeks it later it was out and completely dissassembled. The knocking was from cylinder #1 and their was absolutely no bearing left, it was like it dissentigrated. Ill upload more pics later of the engine.

i finally got the engine and transmission out about the 2nd week of november.

i ordered the my new engine through DSM Graveyard.
- bored .20 over
- standard rods
- evo 9 pistons
- standard crank
- standard cylinder head
- ARP head studs
I ordered the engine on Dec. 27 im still waiting on the block, i got the cylinder head 2 weeks ago, ill post pics of the later.

A few weeks ago i got my Big 16G rebuild kit so i took the turbo apart and rebuilt it myself, only took about an hour to do.

Pretty man!! Im not to big of a fan of body kits but the lip looks cool is that a blitz?

Thanks man, Yea its a blitz front and rear, im gonna buy a new front because its cracked on the bottom, the rear is perfect, ill get the side skirts to match and it has a carbon fiber hood

Nice grab man! i love watching people do builds were they start out with a riced out dsm that was treated badly and it was gonna do an early death unless someone got the car out of that guys possesion. The engine bay doesnt look to bad just lose the body kit get some paint put on her and all taken care of and you got yourself a sweet dsm!

I have finally figured out how to put pictures from photobucket onto here so i can post a thorough and detailed build. Here are the rest of the engine/engine bay pics.
Here is the first problem i saw on the engine. The hole for the valve cover is stripped and very poorly drilled out.

Here it is with the Head taken off.

Here it is with the engine and trans fully removed

Heres the crank, the journal on the right is Cylinder #1 which was knocking crazy bad and had absolutely no bearing left.

After i got that out i went to get the parts i needed to replace the broken suspension parts.
The boots on both tie rod ends were totally mangled so heres the new ones.

The outside of the passenger side CV joint, the threads were crossed, stripped, and the end was mushroomed out, making it impossible to to get the nut off, so i cut it. Heres the new one.

This is the old passenger side Lower Control Arm and where my finger is pointing you can see the bolt is still in it, because it too was stuck and would not come out no matter how hard I hit it with a 2 lb. sledgehammer so it got cut as well. I put a new one on and got a new 10 strength nut and bolt to go through it and the fork.

The guy who had this car before me broke half the studs on the wheel bearings so i had to buy two new ones as well.

Last week I recieved my Balance Shaft Elimination Kit from RRE, and to be honest overall im not impressed with what i got, firstly their were no instructions, secondly their wasnt a castle plug to block the other end of where the stubby shaft comes out so i reused the one from my old oil pump. The DSM Graveyard BSE kit looks like its the most complete kit for a great price, and the instruction video is on youtube.
I had to remove the old pump gear housing to get the bolt off the old stubby shaft and stripped the screw so i to drill it out.

Here is the castle plug i was talking about.

And here is the final product.Old one on bottom, new Melling Oil Pump on top.

Installing the kit was pretty easy and straight-forward, the hardest part was getting the screw out on the new pump, i have no idea why mine was so tight or if their all like that but all i did was spray some liquid-wrench on it and let it soak for about 5-10 minutes, then came back with an impactor drill to get it out and it was fine.

Thanks everyone for the great comments and support, stay-tuned for another update soon, along with my plan for the audio!! got alot of goddies in the works for that.

Anybody think 18''5zigen hyper 5ZR rims will look good on a 2g? I recently bought my gsx, redid everything on the motor n now its running great, so now imma change the exterior to make it look the way I want it to, but I can't find some good looking rims for it, any suggestions?

I havent ssen those on any dsm's before but mine has 17in 5zigen 40th anniversary editions and they look great ill post some pics of it later. My shortblock should finally be here on monday and running by the end of the week hopefully.

Get whatever wheels you like, not based on someone else's judgement. And if you are on a budget I would troll craiglist/car forums for wheels for sale. If not, tirerack.com or browse photos on this site of other DSMs you admire.

Looks good. Clean interior!! New rear bearing assemblies nice. I don't see the exterior shots though  Where'd they go?

I have a feeling this is gonna be an amazing DSM.

i appreciate the support. Basically the main problem is that i dont know how to put more than 20 pictures on here even though i link them through photobucket:confused:. please help me figure this out because i really would like to do a complete in-depth build.

yeah it wont let me upload more then twenty pics either.
i think it might be because we are still probationary members or something like that. idk im new to the site but just a guess haha

So time for a major update, Ive since changed put a stock 2gb front bumper on it, im keeping the blitz rear because it actually looks like a stock bumper minus the fake airvents on the side, which im going to make functional. Secondly ive ripped the out everything in the back, seats, trim, sub and amp, spre tire and jack, i even took an angle grinder and cut the metal supports for the tire and jack out.
I slid out in it one night and found out it was because all my tires were bald and splitting on the inside half of the tread(previous owner never rotated them obviously) i had to change my slave and master clutch cylinders out and my battery:(
now for the BIG news instead of a showcar im going for a 750AWHP drag car!!!!(commence cheers and clapping) the only problem is that ill be graduating high school in may and then in college next august so iwont be able to complete my 6 bolt swap with magnus parts until after college so at least 6 years:cry:
but stay tuned and ill try to keep more updated

Ever Since i got the carrunning back in late April i have had an Idle Issue which i came to learn was Idle Surge.
Here are the symptoms i was having:
1. when i did my boost leak test everything was fine except for my non-recirculated HKS BOV was letting all the air out instantly (is it supposed to do that?), so i blocked it off and everything else held pressure fine.
2. Ive adjusted the BISS screw and the screw that pushes on the throttle plate behind the Throttle body and still my car wont idle on a cold start. i have to give it gas until it warms up and even then when i press the clutch it will idle at 650, 900, 1100, or even 1500 rpms, and its different every time.
3. whenever my car is stopped and at idle my boost guage shows only 5-10 inches of vaccum instead of 17-18, but when im driving and let off the gas and press the clutch it stays at 17-18.

So I took some advice from a memeber on the site and sprayed starting fluid around the throttle body and intake manifold gasket and it revved up on both gaskets so I got 2 new throttle body gaskets and a BISS screw O-ring.

Yesterday, I took the throttle body off and cleaned it, reset the SAS screw back to stock, cleaned and reset the BISS screw and put a new o-ring on it, Checked my FIAV which was good, and put two new throttle body gaskets on it. Then i started it up and it shot all the way up to 4000rpms and stayed there, so i shut the car off after 5-10 seconds. I readjusted the throttle cable to make sure it wasnt snagged on any vacuum lines and turned the BISS screw in a little bit. (The anxiousness was building, i knew this was going to fix it!) I restarted it and it went up to 1500rpms and stayed there, so after some BISS screw adjustments I have it down to a steady 775rpms, and it fixed my cold start issue. This morning it started first try without me having to hold the gas pedal and idled on its own!

Over the past 2 weeks ive been making progress on cheap things i can do to the car.
Firstly I took the Front Bumper off and cut the lip that hangs down form the center hole off so it would expose about 2 more inches of the Intercooler to airflow. All I did was ake a dremel with a cutting wheel and followed the natural curve of the lip, then I put a Grinding wheel on and ground it flat to the rest of the bumper, and then I took some 400 grit sandpaper to it to make nice and smooth.

Next, I finally got around to puttung the High-Rise wing on. I had to drill my own holes for it because my car even though its a GSX 95-96's had the low-rise no matter what sub-model they were. The only issue i had was getting the holes to line up right, for some reason my measurements were about 1/3" off and it caused a buttload of problems, and because two of the holes were over the interior of the trunk I had to take the dremel again and cut the holes through the lower panel so i could put the bolt into the spoiler, but in the end it was worth it, it looks amazing with it. To keep the water out of the truck I put some RTV around all 4 holes.

Lastly, my turbo is fed oil from a line right after the oil cooler so I had to plug the stock oil feed thats on the left side of the cylinder head. I didnt know that when I got it runnung because it is my first DSM, so i just blocked the hole with bolt thats way too long so i only threded it in 1/2" and sealed it with some RTV. Since I needed to fix it I found a local DSMer with some 1g heads and he found a NT head with the oil-galley plug bolt still in it so he sent it to free of charge, (hes an awesome guy). So i put that in this morning!

Right where the black starts is where I had it threaded in to, as you can see it was way too long.

Here it is with the right bolt in place
