Ok well the motor is coming along pretty well at the moment. I have all the pistons installed and am currently working on the front case getting that ready to be thrown on the block. I thought i would show everyone how i installed my evo 9 pistons just for future references. Enjoy

Bryce

Ok first you put the top ring for the piston into the cyliner. Turn a piston upside down and press the ring down about and inch or two untill the ring is in the cylinder straight

Then you need to measure the gap of the ring with a feeler gage and since I plan on running around 20ish psi I gapped the top ring to .018. For low to stock boost .016 is good and for high boost around 30psi .020 is good.

This is the piston with all the rings installed. The top ring .018, The second ring turned 180 degrees is gapped at .016, and then for the oil rings. scraper to oil ring to another scraper for the oil rings. And that is the rings for the evo 9

Next put the piston in a ring compressor

This is when I installed the rod bearings. I used 600 grit sand paper just to chamfer the edges since they stack them when shipped and can disform the edge of the bearing.

Just push the bearing in till it snaps

Next I cleaned my hands really well and dumped oil into my hands and lubed up the cylinder wall so the piston will slide right in.

Drop the piston into the block and slowly tap it in making sure not to hit the crankshaft on the way down.

Next is the rod cap with bearing installed. I champfered this side too with 600 grit.

Hard to see but plastigauge should come out between .02 and .04

torque arp rod bolts to 40 ft/lbs

And there you go .020 over evo 9 pistons in a 1g 6 bolt block:hellyeah:
