91 with lsd and abs

Something I recently noticed about my 91 tsi awd is that I have ABS, along with a LSD rearend. I assume the rearend was switched out? The previsous owner left this completely stock and was around 50 when I purchased it. He was not into the 'scene' of course So anyways, my question is, was the original swapped for this? Also it is a 3 bolt rearend. Also, I have no idea if this has anything to do with it, but I did a VIN decoder, and according to the 6th digit, mine was considered 'special' any ideas?

I thought all AWD's came with LSD? Or is that just for the center diff? Not sure, but I could have sworn that my car has a rear LSD as well...........

according to the model info on this site, the 90-91 t/e/l came with either abs or lsd, not with both. production date on my car is 6/91

yea kinda weird, mines the same, I read somewhere the same thing, you can either have lsd or abs. But not both. Kinda weird heh.

I looked through the paper work the guy had (since he bought it mid 95-dec 04) and according to the records the rearend was making horrible noises, upon inspection it was broken. He did not fix it at that time, BUT the rearend is fine now, and has the LSD sticker on it too. I can only assume it was swapped in. case closed.

Heh, funny because on my sticker on the driverside door where the vin is it says It has Abs/Lsd

I think it is true. ABS OR LSD. Mine didn't have LSD. Until I swap it for a LSD one.
Even thought I wish it was a 4 bolt just to be SAFE

Eh, no biggie, even without LSD: AWD > FWD

BTW: 90 cars have the option of Cruise Control or an LSD, I don't think ABS was an option in early production

I have a 1992. I know it has lsd because of the orange sticker, but how do I know if it has abs? It was made in March of 1992.

Look for the octopus looking block just north of your air filter.

Funny...I didn't think it was possible...My 90awd was a CC delete car but I also knew it had a 4bolt LSD (obviously not stock but it once had a 3bolt viscous)
