I know that this is a repost. Im sorry but i have a little different of a question. Im running dsmlink and was told when i bought it here on the forums that you wouldn't have to swap the pins. Obviously not true, buttt i was just wondering if other peoples car would run or drive without switching the wires. I can drive my car but has a misfire around 2k+. Again sorry for the repost im just making sure that before i start changing pins.

Thanks,
Chad

Obviously not true

I don't think you grasp what the pins are used for. If you did you would know why you must swap them. You might even know how to check to make sure there are functioning correctly.

I switched them, and things are working good for now. Car still needs some tuning done though. I was just wondering if the car should have ran without switching the pins. I didn't want to dig under there if the pins were already switched and i had another issue.

I done cars both ways (90 ecu in a 91+ and 91+ ecu's in a 90) and I can tell you that if you don't swap the pins the cars will hardly start, if at all. The 2 pins are for the air meter. The solid green wire is the air flow sensor active reset (aka idle), while the green with with the white line on it is the idle position switch. If you don't swap the wires the ecu will not know that the car is trying to be at an idle state. Also when going with a 91+ ecu in a turbo car you'll need a tach adapter. I recommend the one that Jeff O. sells. (see link below)

If the car will idle with the IPS disconnected it will start with the 6 and 14 pins connected wrong but you don't get the normal functions that happen when the ECU sees the IPS close. There is no question that the car will run much better with the pins correctly set up and that why I said they should be swapped in his case.
