Pacey updated 90' Talon TSi

So when I bought the car, the previous owner was the fast talking type. Didn't want to provide to much info on the car other than the asking price. Based on the little knowledge I had of these cars from previous experience, I figured a running driving, stopping, and starting 5 speed manual TSi with only 88,xxx miles was worth $1300.00 which was $500.00 less than asking. He agreed but again he wasn't the best person you would want to buy a car from. Not knowing the mechanic history of the car, I knew I would be in for a full tuneup i.e., belts, water pump, gaskets, hoses, plugs, wires etc. As soon as I got the car home (July 15') I put her on jack stands and got to work. First order of business was the fuel system. The car had been sitting for 5 years according to the previous owner so I wanted to get the system all cleaned out. Inspection of the fuel lines revealed that although holding pressure, they didn't have much life left. So I bought a fuel line/AFPR kit from STM and went to work dropping the tank so that I could get it all cleaned up inside and out. Got the fuel system installed and figured I would tackle the timing belt stuff next. After getting all the belts off and ordering a timing belt kit, I figured what the hell and took the head off so that I could do a full gasket refresh on the upper half of the engine. With the head off I figured why not take it to a machine shop and have it factory rebuilt, little extra piece of mind. Even though it wasn't originally in the plan it gave me a chance to explore the bottom half which turned out to be in good visual condition. Still had a nice cross hatch on the cylinder walls and no obvious damage to the pistons. Got the head back and put that all together including belts etc and new ARP Head Studs. Next order of business was the leaking oil pan. I didn't notice it until I got the car home and on jack stands but there was this black rubbery substance on the pan. Figured I would clean everything up while under the car so when I tore the rubber off, I caught a face full of oil from a hole in the pan that the rubber was sealing. So that led to a new oil pan installation which I just completed today. After focusing much of my time cleaning up the engine bay and doing some cosmetic things (powder coating valve cover and manifold amongst other things-a lot of sandblasting and painting the engine is looking fresh again as seen in the picture. Also took the time to delete EGR, a/c, wipers, and cruise control.) When I bought the car, although it ran fine despite a rough idle at low RPM, I noticed that the turbo wasn't building any boost. I didn't have the tools with me at the time to take the intake apart to check for propeller rotation or shaft play, but I figured at worst, I would need to buy a new turbo. Glad I took that into consideration because once on the bench, the turbo was found to be DOA. I couldn't get it to spin for nothing, so I took it apart and pondered the idea of a rebuild until I found a DSMtuners member that was selling a rebuilt BIG 16g. Price was reasonable so I pulled the trigger on that as well. I know I won't be able to take advantage of more boost until I get a MBC, Boost Gauge, bigger injectors, and ECMlink, but I will run it at stock PSI for the time being. Those purchases are next on my punch list. For now though, its time to buy some oil, tranny fluid, gear oil, plugs, and wires. Thanks for reading.
