here is a pic as promised. It will be finished as soon as i get the cd rom adaptor in the mail.

where will you mount the CD rom, externaly somewhere? I had been thinking of using a shuttle box application, so that i will have 1 PCI and 1 AGP for expantion and still have a compact size (the case should fit nicely behind my seats in the hatch of my 1st gen Talon)
Also using an external USB DVD drive and mounting it somewhere inthe front of the cabin.

The only other consideration is power, I"ll have to use an inverter of some sort to convert to the correct power.
or maybe find a power supply to switch into the shuttle case power supply out..
either way im still waiting for my screen to get here..

Keep in mind this case is single DIN sized.:)
Doesnt look like you have any expantion what so ever besides USB on that set up. the only reason you went this route is power savings and size?

The motherboard is spacifically made to play media and it has good specs on it, The back of the motherboard has

Line in
Line out
Parallel port
Serial port
mouse connector
keyboard connector
rca video
10/100 ethernet
svideo
2 rear usb ports
and a vga out

the cd rom is in the case in that pic. it fits in the case. Many people find inverters inefficient and noisy as well. Its hard to get an inverter wihtout getting engine noise over the speakers. Power wasnt an issue at all. if it was i would have gotten the 150w opus power supply instead of the 90w. Size was a factor, yea, but even in the limited space, the specs on this computer are good. You wont be running games that need high specs.

Here is a powersupply that doesnt need an inverter :

o p u s s 150 watt power supply

only place i've found it for sale is for 199 (lots of $$ for a 150 watt supply LOL) but at least i can run my shuttle off it.

I'd rather have my own sound card + video card (NFS:U needs a good video card to run)

now i just have to figure out how im going to get the sound from the sound card into my car sterio

haha, i cant link to it because the board edits out p u s s

so type in www.opus solutions.com/sidebar.html with no space between opus and solutions

i ordered my opus 90w power supply directly from opus. Because the small size and low power consumption of all the components, i only need 90w. It connects directly to the power, ground and accessory wires so when your car comes on, the comp does too. And when you shut the car off, the comp has time to shutdown.

that looks great in the audi.
