Alright folks I'v got an 02 mitsubishi montero with a 6g72 in it. It's about time for a rebuild and i've been considering a few things. I either want to turbo it with low compression pistons and all the goodies, or run it high compression N/A. Or maybe even a built 3.5l 6g74. I would really like to know what you guys think of it. I want to swap a 5 speed into it too so i was wondering if anyone knows if an older 5speed out of a 3000gt will bolt up to a newer 6g72 or not?
BTW:
I know it will be slow because its a big heavy suv
I know it will not be cheap or easy
I know its not logical
I want to do it anyways
This is not to start a flame war, I'm just throwing out my thoughts on a project i've been thinking up.

i dont think a 3kgt trans will work seeing as though the motors were mounted transversly and on your montero its mounted longitudenally. i thought monteros were offered with a manual but i could be wrong

Many have thought of dropping that V-6 in a DSM since the motor does spin the same direction as the 4G63 (even Dodge Shadow ES units had that V-6, but the drivetrain is the same as their vans that used that same V-6).

You would have a lot of fabricating to do to drop that 6G72 motor in the DSM chassis let alone the electronics and harnesses.

but, it's a fun thought though ... Good luck - DSM

sorry if i wasn't clrear, but i meant what engine should i put back in my montero. I'm not putting anything into a dsm.
Btw forget about if a 3000gt tranny will fit, i forgot that some monteros came with a stick shift.

How about supercharged? Does anyone one make a super charger kit for the
6g72? It would be pretty sick to have a blown 6g72 in a soccer mom suv.

BTW just to satisfy my curiousity, is the 6g72 a chrysler or mitsu engine. I know it came in mopar and mitsu cars but which company makes the engine? I thought it was mitsu, but a guy that commented that video said it was mopar.
