I wanted your opinions on what i am doing. i have a 6bolt block that i am building. the catch is im doing it with stock parts. i know that our stock block with the right combo of parts is very strong. i am want to put 2g pistons on the 1g rods now i am stuck on the heads. should i go 1g or 2g. i know 1g= more flow. 2g= better flow. also need help with head gaskets and bolt, and im curiouse how much power i could squeeze out of this 2g piston 1g rods setup without ending with a piston rod thru my firewall. LOL thanks any comments are appreciated.

$400 is a small price to pay for an engine build. However it must be done to make it work.

As for the head I'd say 1G, and for the power numbers it all depends on what power adders you ad on. I'd imagine you would leave the head stock.

I have seen cars in the high 300's with the 95 piston & 90 rod setup.

i am getting all the work done at my friends machine shop so im not being charged for parts or labor. how much stress is the stock head gaskets and bolt able to hold? if i port the heads witch should i go for 1g or 2g. remember the 1g head bolts are thicker than th 2g. what else would i need to reach lets say 400hp.

Dang thats a good friend!

I think the head is also going to depend on which turbo you plan on running.

The stock head gasket can meet your goals with a proper and installation and a good tune.

I paid 700 dollars for the machine shop to bored my engine .020 over and hone it, polish the crank, clean and inspect the block, and for them to shortblock it. It would be 400 dollars plus that original 700. Many machine shops are not able to machine the rods to accept the 2g pistons. The shop I went to which almost specializes in 4G63 builds would have to send out my rods to get them machined.

my friend also sent my rods to get machine to his friends shop so its still free. he bored my block to .020. will the stock head bolts hold up? what head/turbo setup should i use in order to achieve my goals? have any of you guys done this before i know a couple have but i dont know who they are. i have many more questions but im gonna go step by step.

My machine shop only charged my $200 to degrease, polish crank, bore 20 over and hone, and install new pistons on my 1g rods. They wanted another $90 to machine 2g pistons to 1g rods but I ran out of money. Both heads could handle 400hp without porting so it all depends what you have or whats cheaper for you.

this is what i had done on my build and its good for 400 whp arp head studs mitu 4 layer metal head gasket 2g pistions on 1g rods i kept the 1g you could have it ported and all the rest were stock build arps and the metal headgasket are a must my friends running almost 800whp on his gsx and he knows what hes doing so i would say that should be a good setup for you but it all dpends on what your goals are i could of went with forged internals for another 400-500 but one i dont need it for what im going for and second i know what ill do with forged internals i would of went arp rod bolts and main studs but ya i would of went boost happy i will say this i do kinda wish i went arp rod bolts and mans because i know the price wasnt a huge differnece but o well good luck let me know how you make out good luck :)

Not one period. OMG

LOL sorry. It was alittle late and the cold med ben making my head spin. :p

ok then if i go with the 2g head how much work sould i put on it? just port n polish with cams?
or do i got with oversized valves? is it true they create to much turbulence and interrupt flow? i think i read that some where.

so far i got:
2g pistons
1g rod
2g head
mitsu 4 layer metal gasket
arp head bolts.

this sound good for 400+ hp?
