Im currently in the process of doing alot of engine swaps... Here goes the scenario I originally owned a 1990 GSX that has been sitting for a yr that has a standard rebuild motor and a 1997 GST with a built six bolt from slowboy racing. I still owe 7 grand on the GST so I bought a 1996 TSI AWD with a blown motor for a couple grand. Im looking to put the built six bolt in to the TSI so I need a replacement for the GST which Im thinking the six bolt on of the GSX would be perfect for. Just so I can sell the GST! Now I need to know to make the swap what is the specific tool I need that doesnt work when making a regular engine swap... is it the tensioner arm tool? and is there anything else I need. Will the lower compression show a sign of poor performance once put it? Fellower DSMers anyone have a clue?

It's actually a rather simple swap. I would say just as simple if not a little easier than the myriad of "Lego-esque" Honda swaps out there. It's pretty stright foward with a few details that if you do your research before hand shouldn't catch you off guard.

Tools needed are the basic set of tools needed to do a good tune-up and replacement of the essentials like, timing belt, water pump, seals and gaskets.

Compression is lower on the 6 bolt but you wouldn't tell if unless you did a compression test. To my highly sensitive buttocks, they feel the same.

yeh im trying to get it taken care off that way I can get my AWD rollin and get rid of a high finance payment....Ill be cruisin by summer hopefully!

I have some big plans for it including a Forced Performance turbo....ForrestoR Intake Mani and AEM EMS to go along with a stage 3 slowboy built engine with a set 272's and alot of head work thats in my GST thats going in the AWD! Could always use help....sometimes two is better than one

i thought the compression was higher on the 6 bolt since the pistons are 9:1 and and the 2g were lower . i still have my 2g rods and pistons left cuz i couldnt afford to get the 1g rods machined to fit them.
