Ok so i have an 92 talon, with a 5 spd motor and trans and i recently accquired a another motor with less miles and more clean except the motor came out of the same year talon but it was automatic, is there anything i should know before i drop this automatic motor into my 5spd trans? i did hear that the turbo was smaller on the automatic compared to the 5spd?

The turbo is smaller. You'll need to remove the flex plate from the crank of the auto motor and replace it with a flywheel.

yep, stock turbo is a 13g i believe, manuals had the 14b. Injector size is 390 if i'm not mistaken whereas manual's got 450's

Fuel pressure regulator runs higher base pressure (43.5psi vs. 37psi). Stock 1g manual injectors with the stock 1g manual fuel pressure regulator only flow 6.5% more fuel than the automatic (415cc vs. 390cc). And the higher pressure and smaller pintle gives the auto injector better atomization. Better atomization leads to more detonation resistance. So the 6% difference isn't as important as many think.

The 13g is a td04. It is tiny. But no smaller than the t25, stock for all 2g turbo DSMs. Actually, flows a little better on the compressor.

The automatic cam duration is small. The 1990-1992 maunal turbo cars have a higher duration intake cam. The 1993-1994 manual turbo cars have a SLIGHTLY higher lift intake and exhaust cam. AND both intake and exhaust cams have more duration. This is what makes the 1993 1994 cam better more duration on both cams, not the minute increase in lift, that can wear away simply from 100Kmiles of daily driving.

FWIW, my brother has a completely stock automatic head in his 5speed 2g car. The smaller cams don't loose that much up top and have GREAT torque. Superfast spool and good follow through. We will be dynoing the direct swap to manual cams in the next month.

i purchased an automatic motor to replace my manual motor (4g63t 2g) when i pulled all the automatic stuff off of the crank and went to install the fly wheel there is some sort of round guide tha i guess helped hold the automatic stuff in place. this round ring stops the flywheel from butting up to the crank so the bolts can be installed.

how do i remove this metal ( iron or steel ) ring/guide

i could grind it but it does not seem like the best idea.

please give me some guidance oh dsm gods! i can take pictures if needed

Like stated above there's not a huge difference so basically it's up to you and how much you are willing to do during the swap

i will go to the end of the world for my dsm or anyone elses im kinda looking for suggestions. i keep reading this and i cant get any positive sarcasim out of this. but thanks anyway bud. im kinda looking for suggestions as to how i remove this automatic transmission guide out of my new motor. instead of going to a dealer i went to the junkyard and pulled 6 bolts off of a 91 awd talon just for my car. thats a whole lot of work for six bolts not the seven that i need for my 2g flywheel. so yeah i try real hard mr aaronhawk60

Camshaft height is this intake cam (m/t turbo) is 1.3974 in. exaust is 1.3858 in. On the (a/t turbo) it is reverse intake is 1.3858 in. exaust is 1.3974. This is why the m/t cams have a little more hp and higher rpm stock and the a/t has a faster spool and torque.:thumb:

my specific question is how do i remove thins automatic transmission guide from the 4g63 main seal where the flywheel bolts to the motor tomorrow i will put up some pictures im no mechanic but when the bolt is not lon enought to start a thread there is a problem. i need help finding a solution. with some itnelligent guidance i can do this. i did not ask about cams and i did not ask for anyone to reidderate of the rest of the post. im not trying to be a butt i just want help.:aha:

however i thank you for the input on the cams im definetly gonna rock them im just extremly frustrated after my car being down for ever and a fly wheel and 7 bolts holding me up from having her back. i really need to install this flywheel so i can finish this motor install. iv'e swapped a mt to an at before it does not pose the same problem. i really just neeed some help. and i do apprecieate the feedback that i have gotten thanks guys.

well i just broke down and took the angle grinder to it all went well the flywheel went on fine and trans bolted right up. if anyone is wondering what im speaking of there are pics in my profile of both automatic and manual motors and the ring/guide im speaking of.:D id say just grind it! any future run ins of this type.
