I noticed this advertisement from a dsmtuner vendor to upgrade Evo X injectors by Advanced Fuel Injection.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/ven...-x-fuel-injector-modifications-available.html

And I was curious on some details. In particular, I have a set of Evo 7-8 injectors that are 560 cc/min [benched tested to ~600 cc/min]. But I really wanted to get 750-800 cc/min injectors for my upgrade path. So rather than sell them I thought, what the heck how about upgrade them and save myself some money. In addition, this will sound weird, it may increase the dead time of the injectors a bit so they are easier to manage with DSMLink (since EVO7-8's have a dead time lower than the stock 2G 450's and DSMLink doesn't allow lower than stock dead times).

Anyways, I talked with Steve at AFI and he said he could try for 750 cc/min on the set at a price that was considerably cheaper than purchasing new injectors [get price quotes directly from steve]. So Wednesday, I put them in the mail and they arrived at his buisiness on Saturday evening. Monday morning he started work on the them and said they were in the mail today back to me. So I can expect them hopefully by the weekend.

I am not sure I'll install them right away however. Steve said his tests indicated his work achieved the 750 goal, and had a flow number of around 760 - 770 cc/min. So I am very happy with these numbers.

When I receive the injectors back, I'll post some pictures of them. And hopefully at a later date some data on the performance aswell.

So anyone interested in simply upgrading versus out right new purchase, give AFI a call.

so did he upgrade your evo 7-8 injectors or did you trade them for a set of evo X injectors that were upgraded? im a little lost some more info please.

Can't seem to find the thread on EvoM, but the Evo X injectors look a whole hell of a lot different than any of the injectors offered for the DSMs and Evo 8/9. The Xs are definitely longer, and IIRC their design isn't as good as it could be. So I'm not completely sure why AFI posted that up, unless they significantly modified the OEM injectors.

Steve said he modified the evo 7-8 injectors I sent him. I'll have them in my hot little elvin hands in a few days.

Yes the ad was originally for X's , but through talking with him he said he could work on 7-8's and I figured , what the heck might as well give him a try. So here's hoping. He did flow flow test his work and said they flow ~770. So that's a pretty good improvement.

Update:

So I received the Injectors today.

According to Steve's Test, the Evo 560's are now 758 760, 760 and 759 cc/min.

Yippie.

Here's a pic of the before the work was performed [and before I had them originally cleaned and tested]:

I must admit the photos' of the tip make the tips look not as clean as they do in person.

So if anyone wants to upgrade and wants to save some money over buying new... consider upgrading them.
