I am in the middle of doing a 5speed swap. I am going the hard way and swapping harnesses too, but it will be cleaner and more convient in the end.

First question. Upon removing my 5 speed harness, i found that at the ECU connector, pin#91, "park/neutral position switch (used on A/T only)" has been cut and not reconnected.

What reason would this wire be cut. It was obviously spliced into something from the ecu end. and even then, what is the purpose of this wire on a 5speed car.

2nd question... possibly the answer to the previous question. I want to be able to start my car without the clutch pressed in, in neutral of course. What do i have to do allow that. Keep in mind, its on a 5 speed harness so pretty much a 5 speed car. I dont know what clutch sensor is going to be possibly on there as i havent swaped petals yet, but you can assume i will have everything that would be on a 5 speed car too.

3rd qustion.... the 2 mechanical cable that run to/from the auto shifter... i believe on goes to the brake petal (to change into gear only when brake is pressed, and one to the ignition (to only change gear with only key on??maybe). Now i can completely remove both those cables and have no adverse affects. Should act exactly as a 5 speed would.

All in all, i want the car to be exactly as it would have been if it was a 5 speed. with the exception of the no clutch engage start, and thats to only to relieve my 7bolt crank from unoiled bearings with this 2900lb pressure plate.... (aka potential CW fix)

i have one more question too... along with the 5 speed swap, when i start this car, it will also be including an AWD swap, ECU swap, interior swap, brand new motor, many mods including FMIC,SMIM, emmisions delete, new guages, turbo upgrade and a whole bunch of fuel upgrades.

Now, i personally dont like modding a car a bunch at once, cause if something goes wrong, you have a million different places to point fingers and find what is not right. I wanted to elimate as many factors as i can... so when i go to make sure everything is kosher, im running stock injectors, stock ecu to make sure everything goes well. I have ECMlink to install when i put in the new injectors and i will hook up SD once i take the car around a little bit to make sure i am good.

Now i want to install my guages while my interior and wiring harness is out. WB and boost primarly both which i want to log to link when ready. So i guess that im going to wire my WB into my rear 02 input on the ecu for logging... Is that going to cause any problems when im running that stock 97 ecu.

I also assume that i dont need to wire in my boost gauge to the ECU cause since i am most likely going speed density, i will be using the GM MAP that will be logging my boost presure. I also assume i need to have both a AEM boost gauge sensor and the MAP sensor both installed seperately for boost gauge and SD respectfully... cant use one for both?

Your installing a 5-spd engine harness in your auto chassis correct?

For the neutral switch wire, I left it alone with no issues. You will need to remove the Auto Anti-Theft reply and install the manual one or you will not beable to start the car. Also, if you want to remove the clutch switch at startup, short the connector out. So its read by the ecu as the petal is pressed. But if you do it like that, you cant use anti-lag, 2-step, etc.

For the brake petal and ign switch cables, remove them. Your using a manual petal assy correct? For the ign switch there are 2 screws on the rear of the switch assy facing down that removes with 2 screws. Then the whole cables assy will pop out. You WILL need to reinstall the plastic 'lock' piece for your switch to work correctly, or get a manual one and swap the lock cyl out of.

For logging the sensors, wb02 into the rear o2 will work. Both are 0-5v. Also, if your going speed density, you will need to log the map (Omni 4bar is great), and an IAT sensor (GM works great).

I ended up finishing before you replied to this, but i didnt replace a relay. I removed the cables and didnt replace it with anything and it all still works as it should. I dont have to press the petal in as the clutch sensor connector isnt on the engine harness, therefor not available for me to connect.

Could any of this have anything to do with my high idle problems discuss here:
