A friend of mine has a 4g64 out of a galant with a bad trans and I found a 92 gsx with no motor but the trans is there will the 4g64 bolt up to the trans with out any issues. I know I will have to customize things like motor mounts and all but I want to know if the motor and trans will bolt up with out any issues and what would I need to make this work.

Im not to sure but I would say no. I dont think you can use a AWD trans on the 4g64, but im not sure

I want to say it will, here is my reasoning. A guy I know did a 6bolt swap in his spyder that had the 4g64 and I'm pretty sure he used the same trans. Now some would say that's fwd which it is but the 4g63 bolts up to the fwd and awd with no problems so why shouldn't the 4g64. But like I said this is all speculation and may have been lying about the trans. I'm still learning about the 4g63 so I know nothing about the 64 LOL. But good luck.

I think it would depend most if it's a wide block or narrow block, I'd assume narrow block though (I think that's what our 4G63s are).

yes it will work fine. the blocks are basically the same, trans bolt patters and head bold patters are the same. allot of guys will swap out the 63t block in favor of the 64's bigger displacement. it will lower your redline a little because of the longer stroke but you will gain a cheap stroker kit ... you can also use the 64s crank if you grind the suit case handles in the 1g 63t block a little bit to accommodate the longer stroke. there are a couple of minor things you will have to do but it will be basically strait foreword. i would just snag the crank. a good book to read is how to build max performance Mitsubishi 4g63t. its got some stuff on playing with 64 blocks.

yes it will bolt up. the only diff in the block is that it has no oil squirters and is taller. also when you put the 63 head on a 64 block u have to use the 64 timing components and get a diff belt.

Im not sure if the 4g64 block will work in a 1g since it is a 7 bolt. My 4g64 doesnt have the provisions for the 1g motor mounts on it. The g4cs block is the one you need for a 1g.

What year glant is the 4g64 out of if it is out of a 94-98 you will not be able to bolt it up (with out major customization), as the side mounts are not on the engine but on the transmission. Also 99^ are the wrong orentation on the engine and will not work.

late 80s early 90s will bolt in.

the 4G64 has to be a 'narrow' block measure across the two lower bellhousing bolts in the block, it should come out to 12 1/2 inch a wide block is more like 13 1/2 inch
If it is a narrow block its a direct bolt up, there is am AWD flywheel ( 270mm diameter) and a FWD flywheel ( 280mm diameter) that come in bolt 6 and 7 bolt crank patterns, the only difference being the starter location, so make sure and match you flywheel to the given transmission

i think if your just looking for a cheep stroker. just use the crank that will cut way down in your custom stuff and you can put more money into new parts and have your self a nice little motor thats fresh, has squirters and no custom timing
personally i don't think bigger displacement is something you should worry about until your pushing the limits of your fuel.

get the car find a 300 dollar long block rebuild it and use a 16g turbo to cram air down its throat and you will have plenty of fun

What custom "stuff" are you talking about? I must have intalled my 2.4 the wrong way since I did no custom work. Let me know what I did wrong so I can fix it please. I can say that more displacement is a whole lotta fun regardless of fuel mods. It makes for a great DD since you have ALOT more torque off boost. It spools your turbo faster since, well, you have more displacement.
