Just wanted to write an intro thread.

I currently have an 04 SRT4 w/ an AGP D44 turbo with full on bolt ons. I just helped my little brother just get 91 Galant VR-4 and put a downpapyment to pick it up tomorrow.

I was iffy about getting it at first as I've heard dsm do come with problems, but people who own them just love them.

Anyways, we decided to get it as the owner told me it wasn't a dsm and that it has 4G36 motor and the tranny that mounts to it. I don't really know too much, but just wanted to see if we should go ahead and finalize the sale tomorrow.

Here is all the mods:

1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 / Eagle 2000 GTX -- The car has 275,000 km on it , but the motor only has 6500km --
I had Grandview Tire and Alec's Automotive do a complete reuild on the motor -- The car is Turbocharged 4G63 2.0 Litre and the car is All Wheel Drive--

It is a 6 bolt 4G63 with:

Wiseco 9.0:1 Compression Pistons
Cometic Head Gasket
New Main Crank Bearings
ARP Head Studs
All New Belts
New Water Pump
The Head was Pressure Tested at Alec's Automotive Machine Shop
All Seals and Gaskets Replaced
K&N Airfilter
16G Turbo

The Car also has the following:

Apexi AFC nea Fuel Controller
Apexi AVC-D Boost Controller
HKS Turbo Timer
Autometer Boost Gauge on A-Pillar
Autometer Air/Fuel Meter on A-Pillar

Konig 17" - 7 Spoke Alloy Rims with Good Nexan Tires
APC Adjustable Race Bucket Seats -- Driver And Passenger (See Photo)
JVC CD Player with detachable Faceplate
Power Windows
Power Mirrors
Power Sunroof w/Tilt
Power Steering
New Struts
4 Wheel Disk Brakes
Large Selection of Spare Parts and Fog Lights
Just detailed

Nice looking Galant! You'll definitely not be dissapointed with the 4G63, epsecially one with a built bottom end!

thats a clean vr4, how much are you picking it up for?

Thanks! We paid 2K with it. Can anyone confirm that this a 4g36 motor?

oh ok, i just re read the craigslist ad, he wrote 4g63 - when I walk talking to him, he said it was a 4g36 .... which makes sense because this is a 2.0 liter.

Should be picking it up tomorrow, will take some better pictures. BTW how is the tranny and transfer case on these? Are they pretty stout or is there anything I should look out for?

First off let me start by saying NICE BUY:thumb:
Second it is a 4g63
Third the trans and tcase are strong unless you get into the 500hp range. Thats when you start to have problems. But not %100 sure someone correct me if im wrong.

ok great! we kind of had to make a decision on the spot as I knew this car wouldn't last too long before getting picked. But pretty excited about getting an AWD turbo car.

Its pushing 8lbs of boost, I need to figure out what type of injectors are on there so we know what max psi we can push it at.

I had a variation of the 16g turbo on my SRT4 with 640cc injectors @ 58psi, and I know the max was 21Psi for that turbo & fuel.

If you get ECMLink and a wideband you can get 850cc injectors and tune for upwards of 25 psi. The limit will be what you can do on pump fuel.

Picked up the car today. Can anyone ID or confirm that this turbo is a 16G? Also if the blue top fuel injectors would tell me if this is stock or upgraded?

Last picture is also another car the guy we bought it from had - a rwd starion :thumb:

Nice Starion!

Sorry to say but you got a ebay 16g, probably won't last long, and those are stock DSM 450cc injectors.

The turbo on the car is a 16g, but not a genuine Mitsubishi one.

EVO III GT Facts

The VR4 looks really good by the way.

THanks from that link it looks like the turbo is decently build. I just have to make sure it isn't a fake evo 3.

As for my injectors, can anyone else can it is stock? If so my idle is kind of rough and can easily die. If it is stock fuel injectors I should probably just turn off the Neo as it only takes away fuel, and the 16g turbo will probably just lean it out just right.. no?

I think there is a walbro 255 pump, and I don't think there is a return line although i see a nice braided fuel line going to the rail... just no FPR. See pic.

looks like i exceeded my upload limit here it is uploaded elsewhere

Its fake / Ebay , a real EVO III 16g does not say EVOIII or 16g on it anywhere

Sure it's not a Mitsubishi turbo but from that article which had Evo III markings show that it was balanced and built with decent materials...

Are these turbos really that bad? How many miles should I expect to get out of it?

Not genuine = fake.

Still a great buy though.

Ok thanks!
