so im abviously new to the site and need some help with a build. i have a 95 eclipse rs and plan on building a turbo setup. i ordered a howell auto long rod bottom end kit and a fastwayracer.com turbo kit.. what else should i know or look into? any help is much appreciated thanks again!

Make sure you have a fuel system to handle the boost. That is the main problem that people have when they turbo their 420a's. 255 HP fuel pump and a 12:1 vortech is what i recommend for most people. You could always go nuts and throw on a port fuel if you have the extra money.

You will want to stick to 8psi or lower untill you get your tunning figured out. I would go with the mega squirt option if it was me. First, however, you need to break in that engine.

I bought the fast way racer kit a year ago, the turbo sucks ass...atleast mine did. I wouldn't hold my breath on it lasting long.

i just recently got a 97 talon. ive never owned a dsm before, ive always had honda but decided to change it up i really like my talon and from what ive read to do the 4g63 swap its more trouble than what i want to go through so im just gonna boost the 420a. im having so trouble on that i should run as far as pistons cams ect... im not trying to run over 15 psi right now but some were around 8 to 10 what would be the best for my motor help me out.....

hell yes more people with 420a's that want to be boosted:)

Well stick to more like 8 psi if you plan on running stock internals and you pretty much dont need anything inside the engine for such low boost. If this is really your route then try going with a smaller turbo like a 50 trim that will spool up insanely fast. Get a 12:1 FMU and a electronic FCD with a walbro 255 fuel pump,a good wastegate like turbosmart or turbonetics, and a good BOV like a HKS and they are actually pretty cheap. Im currently on a turbo build too and have been building up my knowledge for like a year now so I guess I have the right to help out a fellow DSMer with advice that has been passed down to me oh yeah and try not being completely cheap I would only be cheap on intercooler and exhaust piping because its just pipping. I hear ebay intercoolers are actually pretty reliable. Ohhhhhh and I almost forgot that if you really dont want to struggle to keep your power steering and a/c just get a log manifold and you will be aight.

Not trying to bag anyone, this is for pass through readers looking for info as well, but be careful when it comes to ebay intercoolers, I considered them at one time to save money for my turbo build, but then I did my research: Not only can they be cheaply made, but the fins is what you really need to look at (size, number capacity, etc.). Find a reliable well-sized intercooler for maximum cooling capacity. If you do go the ebay route, try to find a bigger size, more fins-more cooling. I would say go with the HAHNracecraft FMIC, IMO the best out there for our 420a-T builds. Just my 2 cents :thumb:
