420a stock internals turbo questions

Ok, I'm getting my final last information, right now im working on the lines.

What is the best size FEED line, and RETURN line? And best place to find these, since they are very critical obviously dont want breaks and leaks LOL. (with a budget in mind)


I believe i have figured out for the OIL FEED, the set up is:

3/8 into OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT on rear block > 3/8 TEE fitting on that > OPSU on that > 1/8 Reducer into opening on TEE > 1/8 to 1/4 flare fitting > 4 an oil line > 1/8 to 1/4 flare > 1/8 on turbo.

Does this sound good?

Now what i'm confused on: the fittings for the RETURN both ends.

I plan on for all the trouble, making a 100% noob guide to going turbo, pics, vids, and all the goodies I happen to make, when i'm done with this.


Also, cheapest place to find IC piping / couplers, besides ebay, maybe locally?
I started off with a cheap oil feed line.I was going down the highway one day,all of a sudden smoke started billowing out from under my car.I pulled over to take a look.The cheap oil feed line dried from the heat and cracked after 3 months.I didnt spend $80 on a really good one just because!!!! You cant worry about budget on a part that could dump out all your motor oil and possibly blow a engine

I know im looking for a GOOD line, but also CHEAP IC piping, and i need help on the sizes still . =/
 
Anyone know how I can get boost to the waste gate? My turbo didnt come with a little hose fitting. Also does anyone have details on how to do all the vaccum/hose connections. It looks like my BOV has 2 hose fittings, as well as my wastegate has 2 it looks like.
 
You can drill and tap the compressor cover on the turbo for a 1/8pipe thread fitting and use a $2 barb. That's how most turbos use for a boost source.

On the bov use the top fitting. On the wastegate use the bottom fitting.

where do i put the fitting on the bov to? And only use one fitting for both? Im guessing wastegate would be bottom fitting to mbc to boost, and bov would be bov to guage to vacuum? Correct me if im wrong. Can I tap the pipe?? Id rather not mess up the turbo, if not how do I tap the turbo EXACTLY, as to so i do not mess it up.

If you do not wish to tap the turbo, then you can tap anywhere between the turbo outlet and before the throttle body. That pre-throttle body vacuum line goes to the mbc and out to the bottom barb on the wastegate.

The bov vacuum line has to be sourced after the throttle body. So just somewhere on the intake manifold. And that attached to the top barb on the BOV.

If you haven't purchased the wastegate and bov i would suggest buying used quality parts. They'll work better and they'll have resale value when you're done with them.

How would i tap the pipe? drill a hole and put a nut on the other side? Will it leake? And what brands do u suggest, cheaply.
 
Are aluminum oil fittings ok? The kit i bought came with them, the tap on the block looks like brass, but the turbo fittings, and hose fittings seem like all aluminum, including the oil pan bung (Which i might replace anyways).

Also so I cant tap the wastegate into the ic piping?

Remember for future reference...

blow off valve = compressor bypass valve....intake side

wastegate is on the exhaust side and lets exhaust gas bypass the exhaust turbine so you do not have creep by either an internal or external 'gate'


I do not see why you would want to recirculate the 'wastegate' to the intake intercooler piping...That is NOT good....

I meant tap the pressure for the wastegate, from the IC pipe, the hose to bc to wastegate.

Also what kinda sparkplug, and gap, would you guys reccommend and why? Right now im running autolite coppers from walmart, the kinds it says to use in there book. Not very good with plugs.
 
Incase anyone was interested, my godspeed .57 has lasted over 1000 miles 10 psi, and pushing hard, lots of WOT pulls. I have a build thread I'm going to update when I have time.
